As part of their "12 days of deals" Microsoft has the NuVision TM800W560L Signature Edition Tablet [microsoftstore.com] for $49.

This seems to be among the lowest prices posted for this tablet, which usually goes for about $99.

They also have the TM800W610L [microsoftstore.com] (slightly faster processor) for $59 and the TM800P610L [microsoftstore.com] (faster processor + Windows 10 Pro) for $69.

The $59 model vs the $49 model

Same Screen

Same Total Ram (faster memory speed in the $59 model which makes graphics better)

Same total eMMC storage

Better Graphics on the $59 model. The $59 model is a 14nm cherrytrail atom vs the older previous year model 22nm baytrail atom. CPU performance is about the same but Intel updated the graphics performances with twice the amount of graphics hardware (12 Gen 8 Graphic Execution Units vs 6 Gen 7 Graphic Execution Units). In theory this should make the graphics roughly twice as fast.

The $59 model is also 10% lighter, 33% Thinner, and has "less bezels" on the width of the screen making the tablet less wide by a half of an inch in total dimensions even though they have the same screen.
Since OP doesn't state what this is, here is the info:

NuVision TM800W610L Signature Edition Tablet

$59.00
(was $149.00) save $90.00

8-inch Full HD touchscreen
1.44 GHz Intel Atom x5-Z8300

$59 dollar one is same unit as x80 power. the review is here

Just bought at the Microsoft store to check it out and the employees let me buy it, check it out, play with it in the unboxing area of the store, then immediately return it for a refund. I bought th $49 one: after confirming multiple times, they did not have any other version in store.

I was honestly surprised for 50 bucks at the quality feel of the tablet. The back is metal, but a very thin metal that sounds hollow when you tap on it. The screen looks great, but it doesn't sit flush with the edge of it so there's a bit of light bleed from the corners. Setup was really quick and painless.

Right off the bat, it is apparent that you will need to scale the icons and menus in the settings: the high resolution of the screen is TOO high quality for its own good at 8 inches and I found that scaling up to 175% was a perfect solution to make the icons and buttons manageable and visible.

I downloaded a few apps and games and they look fantastic. Brightness is pretty good and the screen really shines when playing a 1080p video on YouTube. However, loading that same video was atrocious: not having a dedicated YouTube app and resorting to running a full browser to run YouTube is just an insane ordeal. If you want to use this for streaming YouTube in particular, this is definitely Italy not for you. Luckily, there is a Netflix app available. If you load your own HD videos via micro SD card and play them via VLC, this would be the best use for entertainment for sure.

Battery life at 97% displayed 3hours and 50 minutes in the menu. There is no way this will ever hit 6 hours of battery life. I did download the Steam Client and it installed perfectly well, although I didn't get to install anything else. I imagine it may be able to run something like old Rayman games or non graphically intensive indie games.

I found that it started working a little faster after going into the settings and using the Performance Options menu (or just searching for it using the search bar using keyword "Appearance") and turning off literally everything. All animations, text smoothing, transparent glass effects, shadows, etc etc. It makes the tablet run a bit better at the expense of making the OS look slightly less flashy and feel a bit more boxy. Worth doing for anyone with a slow computer. WiFi connects and works just fine.

I can see its use for local video playback, Netflix playback, and seeing about two movies continuously on a plane. With an Xbox One Bluetooth controller, I can see it being used with small games or a controller mapped Minecraft. I can see this as a simple method of Skype. I can also see it being used to present a full screen PowerPoint presentation to a client over lunch or in person.

I do NOT see this being used for any family member or children who may get frustrated with the lack of popular apps. I do not see this for a heavy YouTube user or a user who expects to edit documents and work with fine detail. I do not see this being used by someone who expects to use it for more than 4 hours without it being plugged in.

Also worth noting, it works way better in tablet enabled mode in the settings and those who complain about the keyboard not popping up just do not have it in this mode.

I hope this helps. I will be going home to find my extra SD cards and seeing if I have an extra Bluetooth keyboard lying around to use on it if I decide to buy it again and keep it.

A year or two back when they sold the HP Stream 7 on a daily deal like this, they had so many left over that many of the stores just kept the price for remaining inventory through the end of the year at the same sale price. I am hoping this happens again with this tablet: they may have many left over at this price and this will provide an opportunity to get the free gift cards next week on Monday and Friday, which will allow me to buy the tablet for free Friday night.
RAM is a real limitation on these tablets. Can't do much about that. It's like Microsoft (through their win10 licensing restriction) and Intel (via castrated Atom chip architecture) are taking pleasure in releasing shitty devices that have no real life use. I bought it specifically for the purpose of having fun at our snotty MS Rep's expense, the next time he visits the office. I'll run the whole meeting on it and every time it slows down, I'll take a chance to comment on the 'great combo' this hardware & software make.

The latter appears to have much better graphical performance, for all that matters/means. Possibly smaller die for lower power usage.

Probably worth the $10 in the long run.

The $10 is definitely worth it.

The reviews seem pretty good at Amazon.

https://www.amazon.com/NuVision-T...900&sr=8-1

Anyone have first hand experience with a 8" screen running windows?
I have a 10" windows 8 tablet (Unbranded from Best Buy w/keyboard) that works fine in a pinch and easy to transport around compared to a notebook.
Not sure about going down to an 8" screen for office/work use in an emergency.

The last one at $69 sold out quick. At 2GB of Ram though I'm not sure if it's possible to note the difference between the processors in real life usage.

I have the Unbranded and an 8-inch Insignia.

The smaller tablet is tolerable, but I much prefer the Unbranded.

I wonder why the one with Windows Pro sold so quick? Not like the serial number is transferable and I can only think that would bog it down even more.

Wish any of these had 4gb RAM.

Were you first in line? Smilie

So this is basically a tablet for your parents to play Solitaire, use Skype and watch videos, mail + browsing?

Has anyone tried to stream Xbox one games on it? I'm tempted as this is the lowest price I've found on a tablet that may be able to do this... prolly not
