Note: The only system languages natively supported by this tablet are English, Spanish, French and two Asian languages. If you want to use a different language, you have to dabble with ADB/Debug mode and use apps like these:

This will change *most* aspects of the OS to the desired language, but not all. I.e. the settings menu will be unaffected, as will the lockscreen and quick setting tiles, for example. But apps will usually honor the new language setting.

I confirmed this on my Trek2 HD K88 from the previous deal, which is now (mostly) set to German.

The bootloader is locked by ZTE. You can't install recovery, can't root the system. No decent ROM available.
Without community supports, it will be a pain in the ass soon.

I see this deal no longer says "open-box." I ordered last time and it did have a slightly tattered box taped shut. It had sticker with the IMEI followed by the unlock code, so you will need an off-network SIM before you can unlock it. Also I believe you need an active AT&T network SIM to get updates. You can activate a GoPhone Nano-SIM on a prepaid tablet data plan and you'll get the updates. You don't even need to add any credit to your account. Make sure your battery is at 100% when you check for updates.

cannot make phone calls makes this virtually not worth the money

and i can't find a way to update either...if i could find the update, i could update it manually via SD

I was able to order a 99 cent AT&T GO SIM card from the AT&T website and I used that to do the update on the tablet. Didn't need to activate the AT&T GO SIM card or anything.

As far as making phone calls, not sure there's a way from what I've read but for me it was worth the $60 just to have a bigger screen than my iPhone to watch movies on the plane or when traveling.

I did the $.99 GoPhone sim and tried an app called TabletTalk, similar to NumberSync, but for non-At&T carriers. I did not have great success but others have. The app costs after three days, I think, but you might try for the three days. Support doesn't exist so adjust your expectations accordingly.

Well I ordered a second one of these tablets for my daughter & it arrived today. But after I set it up the Play Store gets stuck on "Checking for updates." It just circles forever & never actually lists the apps installed. I tried doing a factory reset on the device but the problem still persists. Any ideas?

Okay well now it's gotten even stranger. I installed one app from the Play store & now when I got to My apps & games it only lists the one app that I just installed under "Installed" instead of all the apps that came loaded on the device.
