Current gen CPU
16:10 display (albeit 45% NTSC which sucks, but again, under $400 compromise here)
16 GB of RAM (definitely not something common under $400)
USB-C that supports charging and monitor out (doesnt mention thunderbolt but seems like its close to being that?)
Not a completely laughable battery at 56.6wh (lots of laptops this cheap will have sub 50wh batteries)
It even has a 1080p webcam, not 720p
Tons of I/O including 2 USB-A, 2 USB-C, HDMI, micro SD card reader...
These are all features combined that make this a really good deal overall for the price. My hones only gripe is getting a SLIGHTLY better display than the garbage 45% NTSC ones, but if thats the only real compromise of this laptop (not only 8 GB of RAM, no USB-C charging/displayout/thunderbolt, 720-p webcam, etc etc) its something you can live with.

Do you have any experience regarding the point of returning any product?
BH Photo has been around for a while and is reputable. I would recommend them.
Yes, it is brand new, not refurb / used. They are also a Lenovo authorized dealer.
In fact I called them this morning to price match the $399.99 as I ordered it four days ago for $459.99. Hopefully I get that credit, but the request will take a few days.
"You might also see LPDDR5x RAM listed if you're shopping for a thin and light device. This standard is an offshoot of LPDDR5, designed to offer even better performance and efficiency. One last thing to note is that LPDDR5 and LPDDR5x RAM is soldered straight to the device's mainboard. This means you can't upgrade it after purchase."

"Memory soldered to systemboard, no slots, dual-channel (16GB models)"
I don't use it for anything processing-intensive so I never even hear it cooling. The screen is nothing to write home about, but it's fine for my needs. Camera is great. There's a fingerprint reader that's quick and works pretty well. My only complaint is that the keyboard backlight always reverts back to being on after I wake it up. Annoying but not a huge deal.
If you need something for work/school/word processing/browsing this is a great deal. If you want to game or use photoshop or any more resource intensive tasks, I can't speak to that.
Oh also, I tried to run Tails on it, and it won't recognize the wifi adapter. So if you're into that, you'll need a physical connection or external wifi adapter

Also MIL-STD-810H military test passed (20 test items) from the specifications link I posted earlier.
Will it survive middle schooler abuse? Probably not.

Stay productive from almost anywhere by keeping the 16" IdeaPad Slim 5i Laptop from Lenovo at your side. Built with military-grade toughness while weighing about four pounds with just over a half inch thickness and a smooth cloud gray finish, this laptop is an ideal travel companion.
theres a lot of touchscreen good build quality 8gb chromebooks around for 330 all the time, fit my needs better
Costco Dell is touch screen; but no backlit keyboard. It looks like most of the other key specs are similar. Dell Vs Lenovo. Any recommendations?
