Cheapest I've ever seen this toolbox. Pretty unanimous SD agreement that this box is higher quality than any big box brand from Home Depot, Lowes, Craftsman, etc.
Before you comment "DEAD! Says $369 you idiot!!!" ... take note of the coupon code listed right next to it.

Just thought I'd share this writeup someone did comparing all big box toolboxes to the HF one selling here. He even loosely compares a Matco box there at the end.

Conclusion is the same we all know. This HF box is pretty dang good quality and destroys the bang-for-the-buck category.
Ive got this box and for the price it is for sure the best out there. I would not call this a "slick" deal though. About twice a month in my HF coupons I get one with the $339 price. I have NEVER seen it go lower than that.
Go to IKEA and buy butcher block for cheap. 3 coats of poly and you're done. Stop spreading false info

Not sure why someone thumbed this down. Best price I've seen (previous lowest was $359 I think). Great box, highly regarded on Garage Journal as well. More steel and space for you money than competitors.

At this price, this may be a better value than what's currently on sale at Lowes and Home Depot, but you'll have trouble in trying to convince people that it is higher quality than a box from Extreme Tools, Homak, International, Viper, etc.

Does anyone know if US General is just a patriotic sounding name or are they actually made here?

I think it's made in China. You would be hard press to find a tool chest made in the US for that price. However, I've owned one of these but I think in the 36" version before and they are great and you won't get these price even for used tool chest on CL.

No, everything from Harbor Freight is Asian-made. However, I can attest to the quality, I have a narrower and taller US General cabinet (same style; some of the USG stuff is really cheesy) and it really is well made. I wouldn't hesitate to get this if I was in the market.

They are made overseas. Nothing this size made in the USA will be under four-figures.

And I did say better than anything at HD or Lowes, but I meant the big box stuff.....and you know it! Yes, if you want to pay, literally, $1500+, you can find better.

I own one of these and like it very much. This is a very good price and if you can afford, better than the HD one that is currently on sale.

How does this compare to the big one at Costco for around $599? Forget the details, but I see it there all the time. It includes separate top and bottom sections and stands around 5-6' tall I think.

Costco carries two types. one is the stainless version which is pretty decent but I think it's a lot more than $599. The other one is the heavy gauge black painted metal one. I have two of those at the moment. They are very heavy duty, build quality is great, thick metal, great slides, the major complaint i have of that one is that it has some weird positive latching mechanism that are placed to the sides of the trays. And the placement is not consistent. Some are on the right, and some are to the left. I literally had to put round stickers where the latches were and handwrote in a directional arrow so I knew to put my finger there and then press right or left.

Oh, and the plastic latch release isn't rounded so softer white collar hands like mine don't like that sharp edge if you're opening/closing a lot for a project.

I also own one of these - and build quality is outstanding. Very happy with the product, paid $359, so this is a good deal.

I had this box and it really is a great deal for the price. My biggest issue was that the tallest drawers are too short for many things found in a small shop. I ended up selling it and buying the Milwaukee 60" box at Home Depot. It's $598 but was a lot better for what I needed.
