Beer brats

Okay, so I gotta brag.

I just made some beer brats that are nearly orgasmic. Recipie:

1. 1 12oz~ish can/bottle of a good stout. Today, I used a Laika from Straight to Ale.

2. Add three cups of water.

3. Add in copious amounts of fresh ground black pepper, fresh onion, fresh garlic (like three or four cloves), and cayenne pepper.

Bring that shizz to a low boil.

Add in your brats. My local butcher makes amazing brats, packages them in a five pack. Johnsonville, etc. will also do.

Boil for ten minutes.

Transfer to a grill or cast iron skillet, already heated, with some olive oil in.

Cook five minutes. Turn. Cook five minutes more.

Orgasmic taste bud explosions in your mouth! yummy

I never heard of adding water before. I go all beer.

FWIW, I make them like this:
Saute a large onion in butter (half a stick or so). Add salt and pepper and about a 1-2tsp of red pepper flakes (depending on spice level desired). When the onion gets soft, add 1.5 bottles of beer (brand per taste). Drink the rest. Right as it begins to boil, add the brats and simmer for 3-4 minutes. Remove brats and grill for a few minutes per side until it gets a nice crisp skin. Return brats to pan and let simmer for another 10-15 minutes. Enjoy. The brats are great and the reduced onion mix makes an awesome topping.

The water is probably to cut the stout. Alot of beer brats will use miller lite or what have you, but the stout would be pretty heavy to not cut with the water.

I used Newcastle Brown Ale to cook my brats two weeks ago. Definitely enjoyed drinking what was left over. Also definitely could have used a stronger beer. nod
