Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Idk what to think. Maybe it could be more next statement. The only thing that doesn't match up is they charged tax on $2 instead of $60 like others have said.
It seems like at least first month bills for everyone aren't taxed on the full $60... hopefully it stays that way because theres no reason to tax $2 for the first month and then change it to taxing the $60.

Is anyone here checking if their phones that they are porting over are fully compatible? Just for one phone (iPhone SE), there are 3 different models. One that is fully compatible with the big 3 and not with sprint because it lacks the band for sprint spark. One that is fully compatible with sprint and t-mobile but lacks certain LTE bands for at&t and Verizon. The last one is sold in china and I forget what the hell that's compatible with. Don't get me started on the damn iPhone 5S, that has I think 10 different models. All I am seeing in this thread is talk about the deal (as it should be) and nothing about phone compatibility. Once you get on Sprint and find out then it's probably too late because you ported over from some awesome grandfathered plan. So just because your phone passes the IMEI checker doesn't mean you'll have the best experience on sprint.

I tried to activate the sim online but to no avail. So I had to call to Port in 1 line. Cutting my losses on the sim here.
So did you ultimately get the account set up correctly? Hopefully, you did after all that effort and wasted time.

Has anyone from CO joined this deal. If so, whats the monthly total fee?
I'm in CO and my SIM just shipped today. Guessing SIM will be here either tomorrow or Wednesday, but not sure how long it will take to get first bill after I activate. If I don't see anyone else respond, I will try to remember to tell you when I get a bill.

Denver Metro and Colorado Springs are a couple of the strongest locations for Sprint service if you are in those areas. But of course your satisfaction with the service will depend greatly on signal where you live/work/frequent.

I was on Project Fi until a couple months ago and was very happy with the coverage of Sprint + Tmobile combined but left for other reasons. It did seem like Fi had me on Tmobile more often than Sprint though. I have been on Verizon the last couple months and have not happy with coverage. It is OK I guess but was definitely better when I was on Verizon a couple years ago before Fi. I am optimistic Sprint will be good enough considering it is free, but if not I guess I will try Tmobile or go back to Project Fi.

Thank you for the helpful steps, rep'ed. From what I gathered so far, it seems like I MUST port out from Ting first and there is no other way around.

I'd like to try the ATT that you did. As my Ting billing cycle will be closing very soon, I'd like to port out ASAP. Could you please help with some questions?
  • In your step (1) above, is it possible to get the sim and signup at Walmart (or AT&T store) in person (so I don't have to wait for 3 days)? If so, which one is better - Walmart or AT&T?
  • Also, is the AT&T $.25 or $2/day better in order to make sure that I can complete this for the deal?
  • I assume that your step (3) for $10 refill is necessary - is that correct?
  • When you signed up for sprint 1-year free plan, were you able to use your own sim card?
1. This is possible, you can sign up anywhere as long as it offer gophone plan and ATT sim.

2. I use the 0.25 plan because I believe this is the plan which you pay the least money I believe if you order a monthly prepaid, you most likely need to pay for the month first. (but I could be wrong)

3. In my case I pay the $10 (the min refill amount)refill because I need to get my account number to port my number and the only way to get the gophone account number from ATT is talk to a rep which I am not sure they will give you the account number if you never refill the account, so I pay up $10 anyway. If you can get the account number without any refill done then yes you can save $10.

4. Yes you can use your own sim, (which I have one) but you need to call to complete the activation, no way to use your own sim if you try to do it online.

I am on a three lines family plan with T-Mobile. All three phones are paid off. I am trying to switch over to the BYOD year free with sprint and only one of the phones is eligible.

Phone 1: IPhone 6s+ - Eligible
Phone 2: IPhone 6 - Not Eligible
Phone 3: IPhone 6 - Not Eligible

Anyone run into the same issue, has resolved this, and could provide some advice?

Thanks!
Maybe they aren't unlocked. Trying running those 2 phones through the checker on Swappa and see what it says.

Insurance on a Bring Your Own Device?.....lol
I had 2 iPhones with ringplus numbers. Checked the eligibility , it said not eligible. Tried the same phone with google voice, it said eligible. So got 2 sims from Apple store and called to port. Rep was super nice. When the first credit check rep she connected was telling me to go to the store to show id's , she cut that line of rep and told me that's a newbee, don't worry I promise u will be approved. And connected to other credit rep who approved 8 lines within a second.while processing she told me my iPhones are associated with ringplus sprint sim already and will use the same and asked me to keep the new sim for extra lines Wink
Actually I did'nt even tell her anything about ringplus or old sims. May be it showed her online when she put in the MEID of iPhones

She was pushing me to take device protection plan, I said I already have Wink
In the end she requested me to put 10 on the survey, I said ok
She even called me today to ask everything is ok.

When reps are so super nice, I was worried, so checked my account online it says BYOD free plan. So all is ok for now. But hubby is 100% sure there will be extra charges and all. Since it's autopsy, asked me to keep an eye on the bill look around

Wow 3 different models of SE, 10 different models of 5S, 13 different models!! how do I even get to know which model I have?? I guess we need a rocket scientist to figure out this kind of problem since Sprint IMEI checker might not work. LMAO

So, using the same exact IMEI, you went from ineligible to eligible just by using a GV number? Was the GV number already unlocked?

The eligibility checker will show ineligible for any number on the Sprint network, regardless of the eligibility of the phone. If you have an eligible phone, you could put a landline number in, and it would show it as eligible laugh out loud

Opened an account yesterday and "my profile" says I am eligible to upgrade right now, I'm using a Google Pixel. But who would want to upgrade to a Sprint phone from a Google Pixel?.... :-)
Mine showed immediate the first day, and on the second day it changed to 06/01/2019. I have Moto G4 Play, so I will try to upgrade during Thanksgiving.

Look at the back of the phone near the bottom. Model number starts with AXXXX
