Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Well it is 2017 not 2014 and Verizon is still using cdma and lte not pure gsm like you stated. Verizon system allows sims to be swapped into different phones and has volte. Sprints system is outdated no volte and no sim swapping due to sprint doesnt use sim authentication.

Anyone encounter an issue when trying to activate the S8+ with the SIM Sprint provided? I bought the S8+ unlocked (US) from Samsung.com with their $200 trade-in on any good smartphone promo in mid-June. Got my SIM and called Sprint last night. They did the credit check, checked the phone numbers and IMEI numbers. And just before finishing, got stuck at the activation step. Sprint is saying that I need to go to a Best Buy store or Sprint store to get a special SIM for the S8+. The SIM I have is able to fit into my S8+ and its the SIM with branding of Boost, Virgin, and Sprint. I was surprised that the rep explained the SIM doesn't work for the S8+ so I'm concerned that this is just taking a ton of time to get the free 1-year service.
What's the part number of your sim?

Successfully port-out from Ting to Sprint.

Brought ATT SIM and $10 recharge card from walmart. (Total: $20.XX. My friend took T-Mobile and the OOP is same).
Took Ting account info and used while Port-in to ATT. (Selected $2 per day plan)
While port-in to Sprint, i am getting "device ineligible error". Tried checking with CSR but i fixed it my self.

I used my iphone 6S. on Rngplus and also on Ting. Looks like my device is still locked with ringplus or Ting. I login to Ringplus and ting and cancelled both accounts. Wait for 30mins and i saw device eligible message.
Finally ported from ATT to sprint and selected autopay.
(I used the same sim which i used for r+ and Ting)

Thanks OP and SD!
How do you cancel the phone from RP? I don't see such option ....thanks

Just for kicks, I tried their chat rep again. Very wishy washy:

Jessica: Hi, I'm a Sprint sales specialist. Would you like any help today?
You: are you extending the promo thru July?
Jessica: This is Jessica. I appreciate your patience while the chat was connected to me.
Jessica: Glad you contacted us !
Jessica: I'll be happy to go over our current and promotions with you.
You: okay
You: free 1 year promo is what I'm asking about
Jessica: End date for 1 year free promotion have not been scheduled yet.
You: On the website, it says: Hurry, offer ends June 30th
You: Did Sprint extend it
Jessica: If you are seeing June 30th, that is last date for promotion. Currently we don't have any information about extension of date from our end.
Jessica: I would recommend buying as soon as possible if you want to lock in the promotions.
Jessica: Sprint reserves the right to change the prices and promotions at any time.
You: Do you think they will extend it?
Jessica: It might be extended but I can't commit for it from my end.
You: okay

yes porting from t mobile only takes a few minutes and they have phone reps to assist you in setting up your phone number and pin. last year i did this and i think i just paid the $3 pay as you go and i'll fund it later plan. but this time i don't know why but once i entered my credit card number to set up the $3 plan, it was asking for a minimum $10 transaction. nevertheless i did it, paid $10 for a t mobile sim card from amazon, $10 charge for my t mobile account...phone rep helped me all the way through...no more hassle sometimes waiting for days to port. $20=less grey hair and aggravation!
You could have save yourself $10 refill

I called to activate the SIM and setup phone no, when the rep ask me to give her credit card number for $10 refill, I told her I am not comfortable giving out CC info on the phone and told her I will refill on the website. Then without refill I just call Sprint to port it over, dont even need to pay for refill. I figure if anything go wrong I can always refill it later.Ha ha

I purchased my S8 for this deal straight from Samsung and used the provided sim card from Samsung without an issue. If the sim fits it should be the correct one, I know the s8 / s8+ use smaller sims so when you try to go through the sprint website to order this deal a special sim is required. Maybe try again with a different agent, you'll find they all give different answers.

In case anyone still wondering about the referral program, they've just added the following line to terms & conditions: "Customers on BYOD 1YearFree plan are NOT eligible for Sprint Referral Rewards program."

So to sum up buying an unlocked iPhone from Apple Store will not work on sprint becuase it's not on their database/whitelist? And in some situations if used on sprint MVNO to have the MVNO flag flipped?

This is a little frustrating and misleading as one will buy an unlocked iPhone from Apple Store to be able to use on any carrier.
It will absolutely work. It just needs to be added to the whitelist if it's not already there. And the MVNO flag is only if the phone has been used on an MVNO when it was previously active on Sprint.
