Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Sprint extended this deal till September.

I set the account with great difficulty.

Unlocked IPhone and google nexus 5 previously on ring plus. On online it showed both phones ineligible. Iphone last month showed as stolen and online it showed ineligible after telling the rep now they say it is eligible but nexus 5 is still not. Seems like that's registered in Sprint network as prepaid.

Now, i tried to port active lte freedom number since people said they had success. Told fep that it's att mvno prepaid. But she want to confirm that with att for account number.

If anyone who have done porting from freedompop please tell me how you ported and how it was successful.

Now only account creation was successful. Any idea how long they hold the account?

If freedompop is not possible, which way yippy guys get the port in?
Just go to my.freedompop.com [freedompop.com] and look under manage settings for your account number and pin.

I ported FP number. Told them it was from Freedompop. No problem, they know about FP.
It was not ported for a couple of days. Had to call porting dept at (877) 503-3269 to push it through.
Yes, that was the same route I did for my 1st Moto-E4, a few days ago.

Did you successfully activate your Moto-E2...???

I know that Sprint Prepaid phonesMoto E2 and LG Tribute Duo (previously on R+) showed 'not eligible' for signing up for new 1YFBYOD account.

I and a couple of other people are asking if these 'Prepaids' are eligible for swap after the free line is set up..
Only if their FED is cleared either by using them on the prepaid carrier they were branded for for 1 year or by paying an unlocker to clear the FED. If neither of those are true, they cannot be used on Sprint postpaid. No exceptions.

The ownership flag must also be flipped to SPCS.

Quote from reader :
Someone asked if they clear FED. It clears both Ting and Swappa. Not sure what/where else to check 'FED cleared'.
The Ting checker only tells you if the device can be used on Ting CDMA. If the device were first activated on a Sprint MVNO prior to 4/17/16, it could be eligible for use on Ting due to the loophole that existed prior to 4/17/16 but not eligible for use on Sprint postpaid due to the FED.

IME, the swappa ESN checker is unreliable for the FED.

Quote from reader :
I am not sure what is the issue with using these phones: 1) flag or 2) FED or 3) something else!
Could be both. But for sure if they weren't active on the prepaid carrier they were branded for for at least 1 year, they won't pass the FED.

I see some unlocker has a service called Sprint Unbarring, anyone know if that would clear FED and change SPCS flag to yes ?

What is the actual order number? The generic model number is useless when trying to identify a specific iPhone.

It's all about local Sprint coverage. If you're in a populated city, expect slow speeds. But free is free! Wink

There is the FED check and then there is the inventory flag.

Have you used the phone on Boost long enough to clear the FED flag and have Boost unlock it?

If so, it'll work w/o issues.

How else do you expect to port a number if you refuse to identify yourself as the account owner?

All FP numbers are VoIP numbers. The CDMA lines have underlying Sprint numbers assigned, but those are not used for calling. The GSM lines don't have numbers assigned, IIRC. The numbers given to customers are VoIP.

Register and purchase a SIM on the website today and you're fine.

Sprint currently has about 18 different kinds of SIM cards (and that doesn't include discontinued SIMs).

Order from the website if you want ease of use. If you try to buy from a store, you're on your own.

If you register and order the SIM on the website today you should be fine as you'll have an account in the system.

Your plan is your plan. If there is an extension, the new plan will be under a new SOC code which would be different than what you have.

Pre or post doesn't matter. Underlying network does.

Sprint will give free SIMs to current customers who are switching devices on an existing line. Sprint does not hand out free SIM cards to non-customers. Sprint's stance is that if you want a SIM, it is available for purchase.

Apple will give out free SIM cards for Apple devices because it is serving Apple customers, but those SIMs pretty much only work on Apple devices.

Speed is all about location. Sprint in NYC and SF is slow. You're lucky to get 1mbps. Out in less populated areas you can get better speeds.

Yup. This promo is not a moneymaker for Sprint. It's all about sub numbers for the financials.

If you have an eligible phone in hand, just purchase from the promo website.

Most of the SIM confusion and issues are caused by people trying to save a few bucks, who then end up spending hours on the quest for a "free" SIM. Big Grin

There is no contract for the free plan. Switch whenever you want.

Both TMO and Sprint will give you a free SIM to enable you to swap to a new device if you are a current customer.

This is not true if you are a customer. TMO happily provides free SIMs to existing customers if needed.

Yeah, hour plus is about right if you do the phone thing. Web is so much faster.

Is the Moto E listed as an eligible device for this promo?
Sprint is doing this to try and merge with Charter communications. Sprint is losing a shit ton of money, but it's majority owner is a big bank owner and will be alright. His plan is that if he can do the merger, he would then have the clout to merge with T-Mobile and seriously compete with Att and Verizon. TMobile would effectively become Sprint and John Legere would get a golden parachute.

Finally activated my first line.... just wanted to warn everyone that a girl named Liz is very knowledgeable but she is also a liar.. she put the insurance on my account even though I didn't want it... and I told her repeatedly that I didn't want it... now I am having to go through the hassle of having it removed..... I'm betting I get charged for a whole month of it even though I didn't want it...

Oh and when I called back to speak to another rep... she confirmed that they were extending the promo through August...
I canceled mine the next day. If you want to do it online, first you'd set up your profile so that you can sign into the sprint network. Then you can configure your plan. Meaning that you will be able to add or remove premium services and free trials. It's as easy as clicking on a box to remove the check and then saving the changes.

My Sprint on-line account has not been working, since the 1st day. After I finished logging in, the screen went in to the Dashboard for 5-10 seconds...then it's looping back to a login screen again. (That's why I had to place a phone order for my SIMs.)

Up 'til now, my old/original profile for My Sprint account still screwed up...!!!

Just chat w/ the Rep, he advised to create a new profile (w/ a new username), since the old/original profile/username is gone, for good. As he explained, there is no way to retrieve the customers' corrupted profile/username.

Now, I can login w/ my new profile/username, however, I can neither see my billing/balance nor make some changes on my account. Frown
Anyone has the same issue...???

you can use an imei as placeholder and later use another phone? any other phone or just the eligible models ? then whats the point of limiting phone models/upgrades? can someone who has done this confirm?
Yes, Sprint's list of compatible phones is pretty strict...even moreso than Verizon even though they're both CDMA networks. A few oddball LTE bands too. Talk about digging their own grave. I reckon if they had to do it over, they'd be GSM compatible like AT&T, Tmobile, and most of the carriers overseas. The other issue is the list of phones that have both GSM (TDMA) and CDMA bands is short.

Definitely not, both Verizon and Sprint love the control that CDMA gives them over devices that can be used on their network. You may hate the control that CDMA gives a carrier over devices but Sprint and Verizon love it.

Any info on 9/30/18 language on the promo page?

I'm getting mixed info from different sources and multiple Sprint reps:

1. If you activated on 7/20/17 or later, your free plan will be extended until 9/30/18
2. If you activated on 7/31/17 or later, your free plan will be extended until 9/30/18
3. If you activated on 8/X/17, your free plan is good until 7/31/18
4. If you activated on 8/X/17, your free plan is good until 8/30/18
5. If you activated on 8/X/17, your free plan is good until 9/30/18

As for me, I signed up on 7/29/17 over the phone and made sure the rep confirms 9/30/18 expiration date multiple times throughout the whole process, but my plan says 7/31/18 after everything was said and done. (yes mad)

So, does anyone have data point on this 9/30/18 fine print at all?

Nothing the reps tell you is binding on Sprint. No one here knows either. You will just have to wait and see what happens on August 1st.

See the terms on your account page, that's the only thing that's legally binding.

Yesterday when I initially created my account it would only loop back to the dashboard not allowing for any modifications.... and today, it allows me to modify services.. but insurance isn't among the options.... it's very weird... and yes the insurance still shows up under my plan details... so I guess I will just check back in a few hours to see if any other options start showing up...
