Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

So you ported in a number from a different carrier to activate the Nexus 5 with Sprint BYOD? Or how did you pull that off?
I ported a TMO number that I got using a free SIM from them. I got a TMO number and PIN, then just ported it before I funded the TMO account.

IMHO,....It may be difficult/impossible to get a VM ip7 onto a sprint free BYOD account.

But wait for expert opinion here
Now that I think of it, yeah. It's my phone paid and unlocked, so I can take it to TMO or AT&T. It certainly works on Sprint. But will they take a VM phone on Sprint?

This ip6 is not unlocked, so I'm assuming I'll run into issues trying to activate it on a GSM network.

comintel has been very helpful in previous posts on this topic and has pointed out it's not actually necessary to activate a device... it's the number that is key when it comes to porting.

But logistically, at least for me, it becomes tricky trying to figure out how to port out and in without activating a device. I don't have an extra IMEI from a spare device and not sure how to otherwise get a IMEI that would work for this purpose..

exactly

also, if u go h20 route, i know they text u the account number..so w/o a ative device, that might be a little difficult

I'm about to receive my sim tomorrow.
If I start the porting process tomorrow, can it be done over the weekend or does it have to be a business day? It'll be quite unfortunate if it needs to be a business day as Monday is MLK day and that's when my MetroPCS bill is due. I'm trying to avoid paying my next MetroPCS bill since I won't be using their service anymore.

I have an active Sprint number/device that I'm thinking of porting out to MintSim, to then port back in on a new BYOD account. Can you help me understand what steps you took leading up to the CSR/supervisor phone call and porting? Did you just call the promo # directly and go from there, or did you do anything leading up to that online, ordering a sim card, etc?
I called promo # directly, that's all. I already had Sprint SIM.

You can start porting as soon as you get your sim ( no business day required to do this). It takes about 1 hour (could be more). Just be sure to have your Metro PSC account and pin number ready.

When you were porting did you say from mintsim or tmobile? How long did the port take?
I just gave them my phone number and they asked which carrier and I I told them its called Mintsim which runs on Tmobile. The rep never heard it before but put in the port request anyways. Took about 15 minutes to port over? Very quick.

Oh the rep did ask me if this mintsim carrier was prepaid; I was not sure if the rep was trying to disqualify me from the promotion but I just answered its basically the same as T-mobile and that was the end of that.

Make sure you email Mintsim customer service and ask for your account number. You'll need it to port over and I believe contacting customer service is the only way to get the mintsim acc number. Mintsim responded to me within 2 hours of me emailing them tho so that was also fairly quick.

Yes $45. Don't want to give bad ideas but wonder if you could port in then port out and claim 7 day money back guarantee?

both accounts are BYOD, I have 4 lines and there is an air rave attached to it that I haven't used, but it's attached to the account and counts as the 5th line.

SO has 2 lines.

I've already initiated the transfer of owership and accepted and it can take up to 5 days to fully go through, but I don't know if it will go through because I'm only approved for 5 lines.
Are both accounts BYOD with free lines or one with BYOD paid lines and another with BYOD free lines?

^ thank you both!

Last question (i hope!)... I'm wondering if I need to purchase a new/separate sim for the iphone 6.

My E4 arrives tomorrow so that'll be my first test and feels like anyway it should be the smoother path. For that one I know I need to order a Sprint sim.

With the dang iphone 6, it was almost free from Sprint a couple years ago before leasing took over, and that 2-year contract just ended last month. So I've been planning to leave Sprint anyway (it was nice knowing ya, SERO) for a cheaper mvno, but now that BYOD has come along I might as well try to hop back on the Sprint train for another year. Feels like a nice parting gift after 12 years with Sprint.

And now to get to the point - to have a shot at jumping back onboard with BYOD promo, is there any reason I would want/need to buy a new sim for the iphone 6, or is the current sim good to go?
Is that "dang iphone 6" with model A1586 and part number MG6xxLL/A as printed on the box or found under settings? If yes, ask Sprint to unlock it since it has fulfilled the SERO 2-year contract (assuming it has been used on Sprint network for at least 50 days with good standing; i.e., no suspicious activity flag). It's a global version (CDMA and GSM) and will work on all US and international GSM carriers after unlocked Big Grin

"if you order sim cards from the direct number they'll create an account for you right there. And when you call back, you'll technically be ineligible for BYOD free promo". Oh my. I ordered from the 8777#. They did approve 5 lines, create an account (I think), and sent the sim cards. I think I messed up.

EDIT: Nevermind. According to a Sprint chat, I should still be eligible.

EDIT2: I'm a bit fuzzy on the details in the wiki.
There is a $30 activation fee which is them refunded in one month, right? The autopay $5 discount will be applied after two bill payments, so we would pay around $8-10 on our first two bills, right?
once we actually activate the phone with the sim card and ported our #, when is the first payment due?
when and how do we enroll on autopay?

I just received a new unlocked E4 plus from amazon. So I went to the Sprint eligibility checker and plugged in the IMEI printed on the E4+ box, then entered my phone # that is currently active w/ Ting... the Sprint checker says the phone isn't compatible...

"Phone(s) not compatible. It doesn't look like your phone(s) will work on our network."

Why would that be? How do I proceed from here?

You bought it new or Pre-Owned? If new, Contact Amazon CS via chat and sent it back for free cause this is their mistake.

Try it with a diff phone number -- use a friend or family member's number that isn't on Sprint's network
