Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I just received a new unlocked E4 plus from amazon. So I went to the Sprint eligibility checker and plugged in the IMEI printed on the E4+ box, then entered my phone # that is currently active w/ Ting... the Sprint checker says the phone isn't compatible...

"Phone(s) not compatible. It doesn't look like your phone(s) will work on our network."

Why would that be? How do I proceed from here?
As noted by JaTaN, it is not eligible because the number is currently on Ting Sprint side.

That message means that the phone will not work OR the number is not eligible (OR some other things as well in fact).

You would not expect it to work with a number currently active on Ting. Eventually you will have to move the number out onto a different carrier temporarily, or onto Ting's GSM side, prior to porting in to Sprint for this offer.

Meanwhile, try with a different number for testing purposes.

Also try it with the MEID rather than the IMEI if you still have problems using a non-Sprint number.

Thanks all - I entered same IMEI with a different phone # and sprint checker now says eligible.

So like comintel has explained, my device is fine and it's my # being on CDMA network (Ting) that's creating the barrier.

So I can either buy a Ting GSM sim, activate the new device on GSM side w/ Ting, then port out to Sprint for BYOD promo. Or do the same type of thing with T-Mobile, as explained in this thread's wiki.

Anecdotally, seems that T-Mobile is a little safer bet so I'll probably go that route.

Once I (*fingers crossed*) get the E4+ set up with the BYOD promo, then I'll switch over to the dang ip6 and wrestle with that one. Thanks again for all the helpful insight shared in this thread.

edit: I chatted with Ting to see if there'd somehow be a way to flip my current number from CDMA to GSM, so I could avoid the hassle of purchasing a GSM sim, but my crappy device that's currently active with Ting won't allow it... at least that's what the chat rep said. I'm pretty sure she thought I was nuts when I talked about activating a new device with Ting so I could port out to Sprint.

.... You are getting steps closer to your 1 year free service lol. Persistence and being nice here pays off. There are people who are always willing to help and guide you through the right path. I already ported all my numbers from Ting GSM side to Sprint. When they asked me which carrier I said T Mobile. One phone rep told me to re verify as I was trying to port in 2 numbers with 2 different pin numbers and she knows that t mobile uses 1 pin number for all the lines in the same account. So I didn't argue, just ported 1 line at that time and called a different rep and ported the other line. Rep also asked me if the T-Mobile account have the same name and I said yes which is not true. But transfer went through fine. Once you get the Sprint signal, update prl and device configuration to make sure talk, text and data works.

Once they activate your E4's sim, it should automatically look for the Sprint signal. Sometimes it takes 10 to 15 minutes. My phone showed LTE after 15 minutes and I had data, but can't call or text. Your situation maybe different. But if you can't get any of these functions to work you will feel frustrated, but all you have to do is to update the prl and device configuration under.

- settings
-mobile network "Sprint"
-carrier settings
-prl update and device configuration

I had a WiFi calling option on settings. Now that I activate my Nexus 6P with 506C sim on metro, there is no wifi calling option. How do I enable it? TIA

According to these threads Wifi Calling is not supported on Nexus 5X or 6P on Sprint:

Whoa that's so weird. I was talking to Sprint CS and they kept saying my device didn't have the capability (all this while telling them I had WiFi calling on MetroPCS). Anyways the link below says the sim 416Q is compatible with the Nexus 6P and I tried to get CS to transfer my service to that sim but they said that card was not compatible with my device even though I found a link saying it is. This is a Sprint MVNO.

https://bestcellular.com/product/isim-kit-v1/

Upon chatting with sprint in the morning, they said the difference between CSIM and ISIM is the WiFi calling and Volte.

I am getting ready to add another line to my current single-line on this plan. When I started the sprint service, talk/text started working immediately after port, and even though I was getting LTE displayed, data was not working. I talked with several Sprint reps, who told me how to update PRL (and the profile), but still data was not working. Then, I was playing with settings on iPhone 6s, and saw that Verizon profile was still showing (don't know how I found it, and for the life of me, can't find it now). I just deleted this profile, and boom, data started working. Now, I am trying to see where I found this, but can't find it. Hope, someone can help me find this profile on iPhone 6s, so that when I port next line, I can just delete the old profile, and don't worry about data issue.

TIA.

Probably true that that sim would work minimally in the phone and may later be used once they do add Wifi calling in the software.
.
Probably true that that sim would/will later be needed to support WifiCalling VoLTE if the phone supported it (or later when it does).

You can try a self-service sim swap yourself on the Dashboard.

But I do not think those add up to saying you can enable WifiCalling and VoLTE in this phone by using that sim if the current software does not support it.

All these features require all sorts of testing, UI customization and network interfacing before they enable them for a given phone and carrier.

The 6P works on all carriers but has different bands, networking features, and setting user interfaces on different carriers.

People say there are complications because the phone would have wifi calling on Google's Project Fi which is supported on Sprint. So it would have to have two different flavors of wifi calling. Not impossible but it may take more time to get it done. Sprint is making changes to its Calling Plus that are only in beta even in the S8.

You can try a self-service sim swap on the dashboard just to see what happens. It may fail or connect you to tech. support.

Make sure you ask Sprint to unlock the iP6 since it has fulfilled the SERO 2-year contract. You are making things complicated for yourself. The "port dance" or "false churn" (to keep existing number) can be done in less than a day if you already have a GSM SIM, which will give you plenty of time left to make love. You can use dummy IMEI to port the number from existing Sprint account to Ting GSM, then back to Sprint BYOD free line with your iP6's IMEI, its existing SIM (you can reuse Sprint SIM), and another SSN. Genghis_Khan can hook you up with some Ting's referral credit for use to port. Good luck!

See below, but you don't really have to manually delete a profile unless it's corrupted and can't be reset by using carrier reset.
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=110433507&postcount=14215

To do carrier reset and then update profile and PRL, see below:
https://slickdeals.net/forums/showpost.php?p=110505319&postcount=14249

You can also go to Settings > General > Reset > Reset Network Settings and then update the profile and PRL.
