Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I've finally gotten to the point where things are somewhat set-up and I'm enjoying the service instead of fighting it. The most recent problem was when I activated another line and then tried to switch the phones used on two of the lines. One of the phones started up fine with the new number. The other phone just wouldn't connect properly. After hours of following instructions from on-line chats and over-the-phone support, I finally took the phone to a sprint store where they changed the sim card out (the sim that had been working fine with the other phone number) and all of a sudden it worked! Literally 4 or 5 hours struggling, only to find the problem was a sim card that couldn't handle the change (or Sprint infrastructure that couldn't complete the change until I switched sim cards...). Actually, it was the second sprint store I had taken the phone to -- the first struggled just like I had and then finally hit on the idea of changing sim card, but didn't have the right one in stock.+
I've switched numbers between two phones no problem on Sprint. I am sure it is done hundreds of times a day.
https://help.ting.com/hc/en-us/ar...ier-Reset-
"A carrier reset is almost always necessary if you're activating a device that's had a different phone number on it before. This reset sends your device's new information to the network so that you can get service. "

Probably the sim switch triggered it too.

Theoeretically it should have triggered automatically eventually too but I have seen it not do so on older devices.

I agree tech. support and the stores should have helped you better.

A lot of us are used to doing Settings/Activate/Reset Cellular Data and update PRL etc. to force the change through quickly.

Did you check for and delete any old profiles under settings/general/profiles
I don't see that option there. Sprint and I have tried network reset, factory reset, sim swap, and not sure what else Sprint tried when they took my phone back room to the tech guy. Of course we have all tried the update, reset profile/prl thing lots and lots of time.

If other routes fail, I would suggest report it publicly on
https://community.sprint.com/

The guy Carlos there (or his associates) .can escalate technical problems within Sprint directly himself.

He did that for me for one issue to a specialist deep within Sprint, who called me and got it investigated and fixed even though it required a network change for the whole Sprint network. . (My problem was that the site identitytheft.gov could not be accessed on Sprint).

You need to get to somebody who will get it formally investigated, not just shrugged off by low-level staff who will are hresitant to make waves by reporting it..

Now if Apple is looking into it, that could work too.

It is probably just a bug that can be fixed once it gets to the right person.

Most staff tend to assume everything is just user error but that is not always the case.

I had to start my account over the phone in the first place due to my credit freeze (they pulled Equifax for me btw), so everything had to be over the phone thereafter.

I didn't read the comments here earlier about making sure you have your Sprint SIM cards ready at the time of starting the account, so I had the cards mailed to me. However, when I called to activate them, there seemed to be no issue with activating them on the promotion BYOD 1 year free, and the rep read the TOS to me and activated them, etc. Took 1 hour for 2 SIM cards. So I guess it went pretty smoothly and efficiently for me, but we'll see when I get my first bill to make sure the account didn't get reverted back to a regular plan right?

Yup. Did that already over a week ago. They created a support ticket for me and told be that an agent will call and try to help. They called me once but I was busy at work at the time. I called back multiple times and left messages but so far nothing.

Oh very good that you are onto that.

I had a similar experience that the guy is very busy on the phone all the time. I suspect he never answers and tries to only call out. I am sort of the same way and that does not work very well when both people want to call out only!

I finally got around it by waiting for at a time when I was going to be there for a few hours to answer without playing phone tag, and texted him at that time at the phone number he left and that worked - he called me right back. So you could wait for such a time and maybe try that.

Good call on the texting. I assume it's business phone number so I didn't try that. I'll give it a go.👍

@comintel, if you're cancelling your present account, are you also returning the Magic Box? You can't close the account with the MB showing in your list of devices.

Yes I cancelled it today. Thanks for thinking to point it out in any case.

I should able to get another Magic Box later on. I hate imposing on them the cost of shipping back the old one, only to ship back a new one later, but could not think of any way around that.

I have ported out 2 of my 3 numbers. Once else everything looks perfect I will port out the remaining one and later make sure that the account is formally noted as closed. Then wait 45 days.

It turns out there is a new cable internet deal here for $15 a month. I have just installed it. It is labeled as for low income, and I myself would not qualify under the apparent criteria if you look at their web site, but it turns out they have blanket qualified certain areas, including the one I am in, regardless of actual individual income. Strange but true.

That price is so low I might keep it and get one less Sprint line. I have not decided.

Very good - thanks. And have you checked that the account with the same SSN actually got a new extended end date and not the same one it had before?

If so, that would open up some possibilities for others. It was said to be the case that you had to wait 45 days before using the same SSN as a new customer.

Thanks.
For the same SSN, it worked in early Jan but yesterday we tried for one of my friend account, he was told to wait 45 days. I think they might added a check now

I'm trying to return the MB they sent me. Can you believe it's a pain even though it's free? First call I made to return it, they sent device (phones) return kit. Upon chatting w/ Sprint they kept saying it was the right kit (it was a large foldable padded envelope). Called again and agent verified I was sent the wrong kit. Now I got the correct kit, I think. Problem is, it has no instructions on it. No return label, the kit is basically some cardboard housing where you can put the MB and then box the kit was sent in is the only box. Talked to Sprint to ask them wth? They basically said they'll call me later. No call yet. What is this? Did you have any problems?

Also, how can you make sure the days have started counting, other than the rep's word?

Same thing happened to me when I returned my MB. You should've kept the MB shipping carton, but even if not, the MB packing box itself is sturdy enough to survive transit. All I needed was the shipping label. I asked for a second return kit, since the 1st kit's label has a 2lb shipping limit on it. The 2nd kit has the same 2lb label, but I found out that it's fine to use it, since the shipper (UPS) automatically charges Sprint for the actual weight.

Sprint is very anal about the MB. I get emails telling me to turn it on, else I'd have to return it, lest I be charged $140 for having it and not using it. Then, once I returned it and got confirmation email, I get 4-5 follow-up calls asking if I've returned it or not. Turned out that it's because of the extra return kit I requested.

You can't quit whenever you want. The account only closes at the end of its billing cycle. The MB has to be shipped back via ground, then it has to be processed by Sprint.
