Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Unlock issue with Essential. The rep says it is unlocked (waited for the 50 day period and did receive the unlock confirmation SMS), but the phone setting says still unlocked. And I can't use any other SIM with this phone (Says invalid SIM). Any suggestions?

HUGE NEWS for people who bought Amazon Unlocked phones with ADS:

https://www.theverge.com/circuitb...are-update

"Amazon has announced that starting tomorrow, February 7th, the company is removing the lock screen ads from its discounted Prime Exclusive Phone program. New devices will no longer come with the ads, and there will be a software update that will remove them from customers' existing devices as well."
Thanks for the heads up. Bought a used-like new moto e before prices go up.

If I buy a new unlocked phone, can I get away with just activating it on Sprint with this deal, or do I have to activate on a competitor and port?

You need need to port in a number from someone as part of the deal. The "competitor" could be a Google Voice number - doesn't seem to matter. I activated a Ting GSM SIM card I had laying around, got a phone number with it, then an hour later ported the number in. I never even inserted the Ting SIM into my phone.

You have to
- port in any number from off Sprint
- activate any suitable phone

The two (number, phone) do not need to have any prior association.

So yes you can and should provide a phone.
And no it does not need to have been active elsewhere.

It is the NUMBER only that you port in and that can be anywhere doing anything prior to being ported in
(e.g. even "new TMobile number for porting in" from Ebay is ok). But you must port in some number.

I tried one of my FreedomPop numbers (GSM Sim Card) and it registered as being accepted, I have not finished the process as I am out of country now.

If you are familiar with FreedomPop, it might save a few bucks on paying for the H2O or T-mobile sims just to port over.

If you are not familiar with FreedomPop... just pay the $3 for a t-mobile sim.

I have a Question, I have a Unlocked Moto E4 from Target and was wondering if I have to use the sim that they make you order or can I go to Bestbuy and get a boost mobile kit and activate the free plan right away?

Yes, if you call in to the 8777 number you can provide your own sim.
The online activation does not allow for that.

I had a nightmare of a time transferring my Freedompop number. Took 2 weeks to transfer number, claimed it was a voip line. Finally done about a month ago. Enjoying the $3 phone service for a year. Others have claimed the FP number went right thru...but not mine.

Yes assuming it was originally for Sprint Postpaid use (not Boost etc.) and you own it free and clear, but if it has been on an MVNO since then you are going to find it will be rejected initially until it is pushed back to postpaid in the Sprint database by having the ownership flag flipped back to SPCS.

First just try it on Ting's checker and on Sprint's. Or call in.

If you get an error on Sprint that "money is owed to Sprint," what that actually means is that it needs to be pushed back to postpaid. Sprint may offer to do that for you, or in many cases it is easier to have LiterallyUnlimited do it free privately.

Search LiterallyUnlimited in this thread for more details.

If you want a phone just to sign up (swap device later), probably a G4 play used. I used that one about 6 months ago to open my account

Yes you sure can. I swapped from the Moto G4 to an iPhone SE to a Samsung Galaxy S7 Edge to an LG G6 and now an Essential. I must be a smartphone nerd.

As long as the phone works on Sprint and is not locked to Boost or Virgin

Thanks for the quick reply. My wife has a non domestic I phone 8 plus. I believe it should work as ALL iphones have compatibility with all of 4 US carriers.
