Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Wondering how some of you made Moto E4 phones work for this...?

So, I have a Sprint Moto E4 (it was bought at Best Buy and used on Ring+ only). I entered its IMEI number to the Spint BYOD checker and it says: "Sorry, but our records show you still owe Sprint for this device. Sign in to find this device on your account."

Then I contacted LiterallyUnlimited, and unfortunately he couldn't fix it. Below is his response:

This phone is a Sprint prepaid phone and isn't eligible for Sprint. It fails C2 of my post here:

[C2] **Phones with SPP, BST and VMU SKUs out of the box**

These are phones that are branded with Boost Mobile, Virgin Mobile or Sprint Prepaid out of the box. These phones were designed to only ever be used with these brands. Sprint will not activate them, even if the phone ownership flag [A] is set to the right position.

These phones were typically sold at a discounted rate with the understanding that they would be only ever used on that prepaid brand. These phones can sometimes be used on MVNOs like Ting, once financial eligibility has been met. See Financial Eligibility [D] later in this document.

Tech support will not reSKU these devices, and you're unlikely to ever be able to activate them on Sprint Postpaid.
Unfortunately, LiterallyUnlimited is right and your only option now is to get an eligible phone as your BYOD.

As it has been said here many time before, the cheapest eligible phone is the Moto E4 BUT it MUST be the unlocked AND inactive version from Best Buy. Refurbished ones there go for $110 while the new ones go for $130.
IF Best Buy originally sold you this phone as unlocked and inactive there must have been some sort of mix up.
Good luck

..Today I purchased the new Boost Moto G6 Play at Walmart for $80...... I did not power it up with the Boost (Sprint) sim card in it. I removed the card before powering it up. I also tried a Verizon sim card and got the 'invalid sim card' message. Then I decided to try and swap out one of my phones on my Sprint account via a chat session.

I figured it would get declined, but I was told I could do it. It took him 30 minutes but he finally got the G6 Plus working on one of my lines. I asked him if he had to whitelist the IMEI and he said yes, that's why it took so long. I checked to make sure everything worked and ended the chat..........".

That's amazing that they let on a new Boost phone. I think you were lucky. Nobody else has. The line mixup has nothing to do with the fact it is a Boost phone. You may just need to do updates etc. in Settings, poewer cycles etc.

People with multiple phones on including high end ones like you tend to get extra favors, I have noticed.
Agree....That's amazing ...all the stars lined up for you..I have not ever heard of a boost phone on a sprint post paid..

did u eventually use the sim that came wit the phone?
and u got them to do this over chat?

maybe S is following the RP model and allowing everything thats compatible on their network

BTW..do u have the recipt from walmart? can u share the item number?..i will try..but i do not think this will work for the masses

There is NO EXPIRATION date as of now.
Just keep in mind that this may end at ANY time.

7/31/2018 may be one possibility but one never knows!

Yeah he did but I am not even mentioning him because he is the one and only person. The rep re-sku'd the phone (changed it's brand and model) for him. No other rep. is realistically going to do that in my opinion. Most reps, will not even flip the mvno flag, never mind re-sku the phone IMEI in the database to be the Sprint postpaid model. I think the rep. just did it because he could, to show his power.

It is possible for someone in Sprint with the right authority to do that but it totally violates Sprint policy. Sprint prepaid phones are subsidized and sold at lower prices in exchange for the committment to use them only on a prepaid monthly paid plan. It would destroy their whole pricing model if that were allowed.

We have a history of many years where nobody has been able to get Sprint prepaid phones onto Postpaid and I do not see it changing (rare errors excepted).

Sure, try it if you want by all means though. You have been right before where I was wrong!

The Essential PH-1 phone deal expired last December, I think.

https://slickdeals.net/f/10772655-sprint-essential-phone-5-m-with-flex-lease

Not sure about iPhones.
But if you manage to get on this offer you qualify for a phone upgrade AFTER 120 days NOT before, and Sprint currently offers as an upgrade an iPhone 7 Refurbished for $349 to buy outright, (no lease), and an iphone 6s for $270, I hink, also refurb. These prices may be lower in 4 months.

instead of finding a needle in a humongous Wiki haystack, anyone who has the model listed can just add the SIM part number next to the phone model on the Wiki. and add which carrier phone (and not sprint prepaid), next to it. Thanks to you and a few others, I had a semispreadsheet of my own on my trip to bestbuy.Smilie

here's another pearl: the $5 MintSIM trial pack from Amazon will give you a temporary number in your zip code, go online to setup account info, and voila, ported new number to sprint. Smilie

I want to deactivate a line from this plan and put it on my wife's free plan (different SSN) by way of swapping in to one of her free lines. I'm wondering if it becomes eligible almost immediately (like the way porting out works) or if it takes days? Any insight is appreciated.
Quote from laalaa99stl :
There's no way to do it EXCEPT by porting. Every new line of service requires a port-in from a non-Sprint carrier. Period.
I fully understand a new line requires a non sprint carrier but i am referring to a swap into an existing line on my wifes new plan that will already have an existing line. Just want to swap phones.

Anyone?

Sure that is no problem. We do IMEI swaps all the time.

To deactivate it from the old plan in the first place though, you have to either port out its number somewhere or swap in a dummy IMEI to force it off. Both of those are immediately effective. " Just cancelling" it may take weeks waiting for billing period end and has to go through Account Services ("Cancellations").

I've been on the Sprint BYOD plan since last July. I have two lines and I'm using a Unlocked Moto E4 and a Sprint iPhone SE. Today I purchased the new Boost Moto G6 Play at Walmart for $80. I figured I would play around with it for a couple of weeks and then return it, unless I could find a service to unlock it, which I doubt because is so new on the market.

It's a nice phone for $80, and I like the 18:9 screen ratio. My daily phone is the Samsung S8 Plus.

I checked to make sure everything worked and ended the chat.

Unfortunately, I then realized the Moto G6 was on the wrong line number. I started another chat and they checked everything on their end, IMEI's, ICCID's and said everything was correct. We spent another 45 minutes and could not resolve the problem. He said to wait until the morning and if it was still a problem to call the advanced specialist number, which he provided.

Not sure why my account is now screwed up. I was very careful in providing information about the phones and sim card numbers. Has anyone else been able to get a Boost phone on this plan? When I first powered up the phone after they whitelisted the IMEI, I saw a popup message for a second, which said something about 'Unlock Sim ......".

This Moto G6 Play is a brand NEW phone that was just released by Motorola in the U.S.A. a couple of weeks or so ago, and it's curently being released around the world.

Most likely the IMEI databases at Sprint and Boost may not be fully updated yet and this glitch exists but it'll close fast, if it's not closed already.
Sometimes, within the first 30 days after the release of a brand new model strange things may happen.
Most likely the case here is such a lucky glitch and anyone who manages to get in is lucky.

Has anyone added a tablet to their BYOD plan? Any idea how much it might be? I'm planning to add an iPad.
