Just ported the number to T-Mobile successfully. Waiting for a bit before calling Sprint to port back.

Quick question - the old account was in my wife's name. Since I need a different SSN to re-up, I'll give Sprint my SSN this time. That means I should also give them my name for the new account. Is it ok to port the number that belongs to my wife into my account? Will it not create any porting issues (name mismatch)?

I had the same thinking when i was doing it. But it seems like they dont care. You need to provide the correct name of the porting account to port successfully. One of my new line, I used my name, which was on the old sprint 1 year free. It went smoothly.

It's also interesting, I think (and in line with your posts), that they were able to switch to a revised offer in mid month with no notice despite certain people having shared supposedly inside knowledge with us that the current free plan offer was locked in to to the end of the month.

We now have confirmation that they can change the offer any time they feel like it.
Well, it makes sense that the changes coincided with the postpaid plan changes, but i agree, I think our inside rep is still looking for the hole in the ground too. Besides his, well, you know.

Thanks for all the support guys!

I got switched successfully from Sprint to Sprint via T-Mobile.

T-Mobile SIM picked up from Apple Store worked perfectly fine.

Last question - I see that I'm on Unlimited BYOD plan but where do I go to see the end date?

Got 3 lines on current free plan expiring 9/30/18.

I need to use same SSN so this is my plan:

- switch to MetroPCS 4 lines for $100
- get free Samsung J7 Prime x 4 for flipping on ebay unlocked after 180 days
- immediately switch 3 lines back to original phones in use : iPhone 8 plus x 2 and Moto G5 plus
- dump 4th MetroPCS line after 1st month
- sit on MetroPCS unlimited for further month = $90 for 3 lines
- after 2 months on MetroPCS switch back to Sprint fee plan get free service until 9/30/19 (or maybe by then extended even further). This means I will not be Sprint customer for 45 days and can use same SSN.

Questions:
1) How do you switch from free phone on MetroPCS to BYOD phone for Sprint? I know you cannot just move the SIM. I need to move SIM same day but want the free phones.
2) any issues with MetroPCS SIM working on iPhone 8 plus or Moto G5 plus?
3) Any issues porting out from MetroPCS to Sprint?

Don't know much about metropcs but you might want to read what's in the wiki here: https://slickdeals.net/f/10821699-metro-pcs-free-samsung-galaxy-j7-prime-and-free-1yr-amazon-prime-membership-with-port-in?src=SiteSearch

4. Will it SIM-unlock?

According to past experiences, as long as you do not port your number our from MetroPCS, after 3 months from the activation date and regardless of having continued service or not. You will need to be on WiFi at the time of unlock request. It's fine to just leave the phone off in a drawer until it is time to unlock the phone. You don't need to charge more money or do anything else to unlock the phone s long as you do not port your number out.

I have a question. When using a digital T Mobile sim to port out, do I need to take out the Sprint Sim card? TIA.

1. Metro, like Sprint, ties SIMs to phones, so you'll have to call Metro's CS and request associating the new Metro SIM cards to your existing phones.
2. Assuming all your phones are unlocked, there should be no problem with the G5. There are two different models of iPhone 8 (Intel vs. Qualcomm modem), so that affects carrier compatibility. Here's one of the first Google results: https://www.whistleout.com/CellPh...er-carrier
3. Make sure you know your Metro account number and PIN. When you do the transfer in store, ask them to write those down for you, because I don't think you can get to them online (or maybe you can through text messages on your primary line).

Signed up today without any issue except for two things. Rep had to clear my old Sprint post paid account history for setup of this free plan. Other thing was they added without asking me the $13 equipment protection plan. I contacted Sprint later to remove.

Expiration date is 9/30/19. Sweet.
