Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

I just tried to activate a Consumer Cellular Moto E4 Plus (XT1775) with an un-blacklisted IMEI to the promotion and they couldn't connect to it. The SIM is straight from Sprint.

The list provided here and the BYOD one on their website says it's compatible.

Anyone else have similar problems?
This seems similar to the issue I had with my V30. My phone was supposed to be compatible, but would not connect. I ended up buying a used V20 to use instead, but the Sprint store and the person I talked to on the phone refused to give me a BYOD Sim for it unless I switched my account to the $60 a month plan. I gave up and ported my number back to Mint. I just did not have the success many others have had with the deal.

Install LTE discovery app and check which LTE band is giving you a hard time.
Sprint got 25 (1900mhz), 26 (850mhz) and 41 (2500). 26 is the best for penetrating buildings and distance wize, 25 is next and 41 is for capacity.

So, if your phone chooses 25 or 41 - try disabling them following these instructions:

To get better data I had to disable LTE Band 25 and 41 on our phones. That forces it to use Band 26 which is giving us much improved data/internet.

In some areas we drop down to 3G but that is usually plenty good enough to use, we even watch live IPTV sometimes, even when the phone shows as only on 3G. We normally get 4-6 Mb download and upload speeds around this area. Not great speed but plenty useable.

1) To disable Band 25 open the phone app and try *#*#3282#*#* or ##3282## depending on the phone.

2) Select "LTE".

3) Select "Bands".

4)Tap on the menu, which on our phones is in the upper right corner and select "Edit". When it asks for the Passcode or MSL try 000000 which is the MSL on most of our phones. If that doesn't work you may need to call or chat with Sprint to get the MSL for your phones.

5) Select "Band 25 Enabled" and select "Off"

6) Select "Done" and get out of the app and reboot the phone. It should now be using Band 26
Did this today with my Moto G6, what a difference being on band 26 makes!
Phone was on band 25 before most of time and performance was so so, now it's 10x better.

Are you sure that the phone sees the sim card? Does the display show connected to the Sprint network? If no, this could be the problem: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/MOTO...-p/3840580 [lenovo.com]

We have an otherwise perfectly good and a little over a year old Moto G4 Play with the same problem. Last I checked I didn't find a fix unless under warranty and sent in to be fixed.
Yup, seems to be the same problem I'm having. Tried the Airplane mode and switching to 3G and 2G but no luck.

Don't see a reason sending it into Motorola to get a potentially refurbished/potentially unfixed unit. The one I have now is brand new.

Guess I'm going shopping again.

Normally that means you called the wrong number.

You should not have a problem getting a sim if you call the number for this promo, which ends in 8777.

This offer is not available through other sales departments.

Also sims are available at Best Buy etc.

Now I look at the original post and 20+ phones show as now being "ineligible" and this Moto E4 Plus is one of them.

I don't even know what carrier I can use this phone with (if any). All the IMEI checkers say "Invalid" because it's already linked to Sprint (I'm assuming). Lovely.

Meanwhile, my Nexus 6P has been chugging along fine and just hit a 56GB used data warning.

There is no list of ineligible phones.

Try the Ting checker. It gives more detailed explanations.

Many E4's were sold as prepaid-only phones and that is the most likely situation.

as well as a whole bunch of vital configurations which will give you 100% compatibility with all Sprint features, including VoLTE (where available), WiFi Calling, Visual VoiceMail etc. which you would not have in the neutered "Unlocked Model" (and are missing on many other phone brands and models when the phone is moved onto Sprint from another carrier)..

You are right the bloatware is a pain.

But giving you the complete Sprint platform is the only way they have right now to quickly give you 100% of the Sprint S8 feature set. If they started leaving stuff out, things would break.

Depending on which device you and how long you want to wait for them, unless you want to pay extortion prices at Best Buy or screw around for the privilege of paying $10 for shipping and handling at Sprint telesales, best bet for affordable SIM cards might be eBay. Unless you know precisely beyond the shadow of a doubt which card your phone needs, I would probably skip eBay.

Good points.

However,

- Sprint is waiving shipping these days, so cost is just $2.99
- The lists linked to in the Wiki are very reliable. I do not recall any instance of an error that affected anyone. Parts supplied by stores and dealers and even Apple, however, have been wrong in many cases, mainly where people have relied on the "expertise" of the sales person at the store.

I used to say get them from Sprint corporate stores but several people have reported the stores refused to sell or give them to them when they did not get have an account already.

Here is a link where you can order the universal sim kit online from Sprint for $2.99:

Sorry if this has already been covered here but Sprint really pushed the phone insurance coverage when setting up my account. The rep told me that unless I had Sprint phone insurance, if I changed phones within the first 3 months of Sprint service, that I would be disqualified from the free 1 year promotion immediately. I would then need to pay $60/month (the regular price for the service).

I don't recall having seen that anywhere in the threads I had read. I did recall reading that I could cancel so I thought it better to just have her add it and get a second opinion immediately.

Please let me know if she was messing with me. Thanks.

It is just lies, or more exactly exaggerations.

It is true that if you take advantage of a Sprint discounted upgrade offer within the first few months, you would lose the free plan.

It does not apply, however, where you bring your own phone and swap phones for another phone you also own.

We swap phones all the time starting days after signing up.

So you can take the insurance to keep the rep happy and then cancel it right afterward via Chat.

It i covered well in the Wiki and please read the Wiki which is at post #3 of this thread.
