Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.

Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

Sorry to ask this question which must be answered many times. I searched the thread , but not very sure. Can I port in to this free plan directly from Sprint MVNO, such as Boost mobile ? Thanks.

Ive been trying to activate this for the whole day today.

with an Essential phone; phone gives me signal but won't connect.

I turn on the phone and I go through the "new line" procedure, which tells me to register online and add the phone to my account.
But I cant register because MEID "device not active or cancelled"! And sprint has only given me a redacted xxxx account number. not very useful.
Also number being ported is from Freedompop and also says "device not active or cancelled"

why is this so difficult lol

Depends on where pirchased,
The iPhone 6 plus model A1524 was sold by Sprint and is probably already locked to Sprint. The Sprint A1524 has model order#'s beginning with MGC* or MGD* and include the sprint sim card in box, these would be locked.
The iphone 6 plus model A1524 was also sold as sim free/unlocked and maybe subject to US Reseller Flex Policy. These had model order#' beginning with MGA* and would not include a sim card. These could be probably be unlocked with verizon sim trick.
It doesnt hurt to try
The model order#/part# should be on box.
Noob question: what is the "verizon sim trick"?

I joined in December, 4 lines.

Brother upgraded with apple today using the apple plan, so he got dropped off the unlimited.

If he switches to Tmobile, will it cause a problem with the other 3 lines on this account?
Quote from macrokelvin :
Did your brother choose carrier financing or Apple (partnered w/ Citizens One) financing? If Apple, his line should not be dropped.
Quote from heyeaglefn :
I assume Apple financing. The screenshot he sent me says:

iPhone Upgrade Program

Works with your carrier

You're buying directly from Apple. Which means no more financing your iphone through your carrier or committing to a multiyear service contract. Your new iPhone will work with your carrier so you won't have to make any changes to your rate plan.

I chatted and called Sprint and of course they were clueless.
Quote from heyeaglefn :
I just got an email from Sprint putting his line back on the BYOD plan, so they must have agreed this was not authorized.
Quote from heyeaglefn :
It is financed through apple, so he pays like $30 bucks a month or whatever directly to apple.
Glad to hear that they fixed it for you. As I have posted, the line should not had dropped. You also got lucky that they fixed it really fast. Must be a slow day at Sprint; probably everyone is making love today instead of calling Sprint Big Grin

Happy Valentine's Day to you and everyone else. Make more love!

Only applicable to SIM-free iPhones with US Reseller Flex Policy, where the iPhones will SIM locked to the first inserted US SIM except Verizon SIM because Verizon do not lock their 4G LTE devices. Keep in mind that this is the activation with the Apple's servers (not the same as carrier's activation); so if you don't have an active Verizon SIM, inactive (unactivated) Verizon SIM works too. All you need is the Verizon ICCID code on the SIM to trigger the unlock with the Apple's servers. You can get a free Verizon SIM from the Apple store.

There are two types of activation for iPhones. One is activation with the Apple's servers, and another is activation with the carrier's servers. Look up my previous post (a few days ago) if you want to know more about iPhone's activation. Make more love!

It has now started to work out of the blue.

My situation prior to this was:
- account finally working (had to call)
- phone correctly linked to my account and sim icc id double checked (made the operator check)
- phone would always ask me to activate service once turned on, and guided me to add my phone on my account; but my account already saw my phone as activated
- in chat support* from the phone, the person told me to: settings > system > about phone > OMADM updates > Update profile. First 5-10 times I tried it did nothing -- gave me some error "ffffff". Then I went back home with stable wifi (I was being tethered from another phone earlier), rebooted, clicked on update profile one other time, and it worked! rebooted on its own and got service and everything.

I had the message ready for sprintcare on twitter.

* curiously, with the phone not working, logging into my account required an impossible 2-factor authentication with text-based code.
sprint's account management and online experience has been a total failure today tbh.
but speedtest so far is better than redpocket, which I will use on a non-cdma phone.

I would also like to add that my activation was

- not credit approved at first (I have no credit history yet)
- called the credit department and explain my situation as international student
- they told me to send an email with scans of passport & student id
- was approved via email minutes later

so, all in all a relatively convoluted procedure but the customer support was very responsive.
they were also having a promotion party while I was talking to them -- it was pretty funny to hear.

Just curious for the benefit of the many other students etc who have asked if they can get this offer:

Did you have to have an SSN or an ITIN or no tax number?

Of course I am not really interested in your personal situation. What I mean is, what was Sprint prepared to accept?

Thanks
