What number / department did you call to cancel. I had to do it twice. Call the retentions number. Don't speak to general sales. Tell them nothing more than you need to cancel you service at the end of your current billing cycle which is 8/20. Ask them to please do this so you have a chance to port out to a different provider between now and then

Don't discuss anything else - just be firm and tell them to set up the cancellation
Very well put.

It did not even occur to me that the poster might have tried to wing it their own way and called general support or sales numbers. That is not going to work for the series of careful steps needed here. Those general sales/support people are in overseas call centers and do not have the sophistication to take cancellations and are not supposed to do so. They are very clumsy and I would say there is a high likelihood that they will mess up your account by doing it wrong if people involve them. They are supposed to refer people to Retentions if people try to cancel with them. It is surer to just call Retentions directly.

The direct number for Retentions is 844-382-3317 .

I summarized all the steps at https://slickdeals.net/f/10235008-sprint-byod-1-year-unlimited-talk-text-data-free-w-eligible-device-sim-req?p=128482822#post128482822

My usual monthly bill is $4.77 for that single BYOD line but some reason my billing is showing that my last payment made is twice that, $9.54. So far I only noticed one charge of $4.77 on my cc recently, probably just a clerical anomaly?

Where can I find that? I just found "bill charge trends" on the sprint app from billing.
As long as they don't charge me extra, it doesn't matter but I'm curious why it's different?

Are you using their website or app? On app, go to view my bill. Then scroll down. You'll see the break down of each fees.

Oh yeah, there's no difference in what I'm being billed this month in terms of taxes and fees. I just mentioned in my op, the app is showing the "last payment you made" is double of what I normally am charged, but haven't actually been charged any extra yet. The $9.54 just stuck out to me as different than usual.

Just a data point that on 8/5 I was able to go to a T-Mobile store and purchase a "paygo" simcard for $13. They didn't have any on display, but when I asked specifically for the $3/mo. plan they went to the back and brought one up. After purchasing, I called Ultramobile and ported a number out from Sprint (from a 7/31 BYOD expiration). The porting happened immediately but my activation didn't. They told me this could take 72 hours. I told them this was not acceptible and they offered to call T-Mobile and escalate. After calling T-Mobile, they told me it would be complete within 2 hours and that they would call me when complete. I asked them for my account number and PIN number. Sure enough, about an hour later they called me to tell me that the activation was complete. I immediately called Sprint and asked them to port the number in to my spouse's BYOD account that has 6 months left. They did this immediately and even offered me the $200 Mastercard add a line promotion. The phone was back up and running on Sprint in less than 10 minutes.

I recently ported out of free one year byod and back into unlimited kickstart ($25). The initial screening showed that my plan was eligible for the free AAA renewal. Three days later I received an email with this.
"Your reward request for AAA-xxxxxxxx has been denied. This offer is not available for business, employee/employee referral, indirect/3rd party employee and no credit check accounts".
They must consider my account a no credit check account. When I signed up by phone, I authorized the agent to perform a credit check and I was approved.

That's what others are reporting too.
https://www.reddit.com/r/Sprint/c..._discount/

It may be excluded in the Kickstart terms and conditions, even if not in the reward terms and conditions. Most but not all offers say they cannot be combined with other offers.

I think you should hopefully be eligible for the $200 MasterCard rebate though as it can be stacked.

It could be possible though that they might deny that too because the phone number was recently active. I doubt they would catch it though.

They will not give credits for KickStart or other special offers, only regular plans.

People do it just for the convenience of not having to port out and back in, or to qualify for special offers for which they would otherwise not be eligible, mostly not for the credits, since the best plans are all special offers for which you do not get credits anyway.

You usually cannot get both credits and special offers any more. There are some exceptions such as the $200 MasterCard offer (which shows you how desperate they are for new lines right now).

No. They typically do not give you credit with the kickstart plan. I never ported out. I had my cancellation scheduled and then was able to do the recovery offer to get Kickstart - but no additional credit

Hey awesome, thanks for quick reply.

Do you know if I can add Kickstart Line while i still have sprint free year?

I will port a number from Tracfone, which has not been used by sprint or mnvos for atleast 90 days.

I want to get that 200$ Rebate mastercard

I did this last month and I was told I will get the 200 gift card after 30 days of service with Kickstarter plan.
So far it is good but no Hotspot could push me to port out
