Guess they are finally valuing their service quality at zero dollars!! Having unfortunate experience of being a sprint customer, I wholeheartedly concur with the valuation of their service.
Can I cancel after the first year?
Hi! I have ten specific questions that only pertain to my individual circumstances. I epitomize laziness and my sense of entitlement is impervious to reason. Therefore it is the responsibility of anyone and everyone who reads this to find the answers to my questions.

If these phone have been on a sprint mvno, would it need to have the flag switched to clear the financial eligibility? Maybe that is the cause?

Some facts about FED from ting.

I received same error for my iPhone7 which I bought it from Boost during 1st week of December'19. I swapped free plan SIM to this phone through sprint chat. Looks like they didn't activate it through chat support and they provided tech support no. I called that no and that person was very knowledgeable and he asked where did I purchase this device and he told Boost is Sprint MVNO. No worries, I will activate your phone. After few minutes, he asked me to switch off and on my device and got the pop up msg saying that Your phone is activated. In Sprint BYOD IMEI check, it says phone is already active in Sprint. But in Ting, still same financial error. I contacted Sprint chat again for unlock request, they told device should be active for 45 days. He suggested me to contact after 45 days to unlock. Hope after unlock, financial error should go.

Need experts suggestion- Currently I have work phone with AT&T. Planning to move out from them. My Sprint free plan with two lines are going to end on 31st Mar'20. Is it good to move to Sprint for 3 months or is it good to look for other alternatives. TIA

Comintel is correct. Mine passed fine on the sprint checker.

I called international support [custhelp.com] at this number 888-226-7212 and they said there was a substantial amount still owed on this phone

So basically it's a sprint locked phone until that amount is paid.

BTW, the sprint corporate store told me there was no other account associated with the phone and i should call to get the unlock. So don't bother going, just call the number above.

Mine is also March 31 but i don't plan on looking for other options until March 1. By that time there may also be more options if the Tmo-Sprint merger is settled.

It depends on your requirements but, like hodaddy, I would not be in a rush to lock anything in long-term at the moment.

Seller failed to deliver good title then in my opinion. Can you dispute or threaten to file a complaint with the local police department in the seller's location?

thnaks i will call the number.
but since i do not have phone on any account, i am not sure if it will help.
meaning , willl they be able to tell me that :

1. phone is paid off, not reported lost stolen
and
2, only reason it is not passing fed/fec is because of 15 month rule. )mine was purchased on 11/2019).

I doubt those supposed FED rules are complete or current. Twigby says:
Quote :
There are two main rules that would keep your phone from meeting FED requirement:
If a phone was on a contract that failed to honor and pay for the full two-year agreement,
If it has not been 15 months from its original purchase date from Sprint.
It is not clear if they are saying both requirements need to be met or either one. Also Sprint itself does not even have two-year contracts any more. Sprint has never published its FED policies and nobody knows what they are but I think it often takes more than one or two years if ever in many cases. Many people still cannot unlock FED-locked phones many years later.

I suspects those are guesses / rumors / partial truths that are incomplete.

The one year rule is for prepaid phones on Boost, Virgin, or Sprint Prepaid which is a different thing.

I would call or chat with the link i posted and just tell them you are looking at a used phone and would like to know if any money is owed on it. My call went smoothly. I think they will check for you no problem.

My guess is if money is owed, no matter the carrier, then they will never be unlockable til paid. I could be wrong.

It's funny, I just checked a tmobile IMEI from ebay and it passed ting and sprint checks but then on tmobiles site it did not and i did a chat session with tmo to verify that they would not activate til paid off. This was a pixel 3a IMEI

So pixels are all unlocked i believe but if subsidized then that carrier will not allow it on, except Sprint which did allow me to activate an unpaid sprint phone. Very confusing.

I think you are exactly right. For most practical purposes, they will never unlock while still unpaid. Twigby is getting mixing up with some other special situations.

That is very useful to know re Pixels - now I understand that situation.

Sure. Thanks hodaddy and Comintel. Just now I am done with Sprint Chat support and call 1-866-275-1411 and they are saying that you can't add new line under free BYOD plan. You need to go for Kickstart or some other plans. I said, I will look for other options and after long hold, he suggested me to go to Sprint store and they can able to add new line under existing free plan account.

Not sure Sprint store will help me to add new line under free plan. Any experience?.

Call them at the -8777 number posted in the wiki, never try it at a store. The stores can mess up your free plan, no use in trying.
As @Comintel has recently mentioned. Don't ask them to add a line, tell them, be assertive as you are allowed up to 5 lines as originally was promised.
