As @Comintel has recently mentioned. Don't ask them to add a line, tell them, be assertive as you are allowed up to 5 lines as originally was promised.
You need to call 866-782-8777 and tell them you are pre-approved to add more free plan lines right up to your free plan end date and it is noted in the terms of your account and plan. Argue if they refuse!
The rep was lying to you (or badly misinformed) at the least about not being able to add a free plan line. In fact, someone just added a line yesterday - see the immediately prior post. But quite a few reps have been doing that unless called out or unless the customer calls repeatedly.
All of that is just my interpretation but I might as well say it. Kickstart is still a good plan in any case.

S*xx Nine experience varies by location.
However my port was approved, somehow it got stuck and I had to call them to finish it.
They were able to change my line over from kickstart to the free BYOD plan, no hassle at all.
I am also holding them to the $25 credit they promised and will also file for the $200 mastercard for the grief they gave me. Phone number for the card promo is 8444507865. Customer service told me I might not be eligible considering I changed the plan after the original port in, however they never gave me the option of having the free BYOD plan anyway. Won't go down without a fight, but I'll update on what happens
Edit 1/28: bill was a little messed up. Despite having the plan changed from kickstart to byod the next day, change didn't take place until Jan 7. I was prorated kickstart for those two weeks. And no surprise, no credits applied to my account.
Called again and I was told credits would be applied immediately, so at least it's covered. I can't track my MasterCard promo online, but after speaking to customer service, they said it was approved and I should have it by March sometime
