I have both. You'd be hard pressed to be able to tell the difference. And if you can, then you're more than likely able to tell the difference among higher priced earphones and also appreciate the sonic differences to warrant their higher price tag.

Worthy upgrade IMHO: my ears don't sweat and I can wear many hours on end. These fits both the MDR7506 and V6 models: Beyerdynamic EDT250V Headphone Ear Pads Black https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0016MF7W2/

I had to get more comfortable and deep ear pads. Apparently the sound is worse but I actually use them now everyday.

I own both as well and will echo what Bob2012 said. I won't say they sound exactly the same, but they are very close. I'd just get whichever is cheaper (usually the V6) and be happy saving a few dollars.

I meant it as an expression. I go through several headphones per year, but it doesn't mean that they combust. My ATHM50's came with three cables and they have lasted me for three years already.
