Just note, this model is not really meant to be upgraded. In order to upgrade the hard drive, you basically have to disassemble most of the machine. You have to remove the battery, the optical drive, the keyboard and finally the back cover -- kind of like the Lenovo 110 models. If you want to upgrade to an SSD or add memory, I would look elsewhere as this is a major pain when compared to Dell's Inspiron 5000 models, which are much simpler to upgrade without disassembling most of the system.

Mac user looking for a "bargain" price laptop that can run a few apps/games.

Basically, these are the older games you can buy at Walmart for $5, like Age of Empires II, Rise of Nations, Age of Mythology. I don't use Steam or any other modern gaming services as I also have games on my console. So this laptop would literally be used for light work.

Should I even bother with something like this? Or can someone make a recommendation?

Yes, you should get this laptop if price is your main concern. Obviously this is nothing special but it's got a capable enough processor and 6gb of ddr4 ram when most in this price range come with 4gb. It's only 768p which doesn't really matter on a screen this size but you can get much crisper displays. The plus side of this is that the CPU and onboard video have to work a lot less, this means things will run smoother and you'll get better battery life.

I purchased one of these for my mother who needs a laptop to use for email, streaming and web searching when not at her desktop.

You'd get better performance and easier to upgrade with a used i5 desktop.

Yea, this was from a week+ ago.

I'd wait for prime-day now to see if you can get a better/same deal on a comparable laptop.

Haven't opened the one that I got yet, will be returning it if Prime Day has a better deal though I highly doubt I'll get one considering I used the eBay $15 off code as well.
