Unless these royally suck, Ikea's Plattboj batteries are a better deal at $1.99 for 8. See here: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog.../80291156/. Of course, Ikea stores aren't everywhere in the US.

Keyless fobs only last 1-2 years and the magnets in my Airpods case are apparently making it more like 2-3 months.

depends on what batteries you use and how often you push the buttons, and probably type of fob too. MUCH too general to say they all only last 1-2 years. I remember first time I had to change the batteries (CR1632) in my Camry's fob it was over 5 years (*don't know how old the batteries were that came with it. just based on when I got the car.)

Wow, what batteries are you putting in them? My 2009 and 2010 fobs still have the factory batteries in them.

As an aside, know your sources on batteries. Lots of counterfeits out there. I just ordered a bunch of cr2032s from Batteryjunction (and some CR2s). I bought the Duracell 2032s because they are Japanese made, not Chinese or Indonesian.

I think the distinction being made here is between 'key' fobs and 'keyless' fobs. I've noticed that the keyless fobs (i.e. just have to have in my pocket) run batteries down faster than the "only used to open the door, but stick key in ignition to go" type. I suspect there may well be a constant stream of 'are you still there' type of communications going on between the car and the fob in my pocket... not sure, just a theory.
