My first baby had a 40-cm head (that's circumference, not diameter, Mich!) and I didn't have a 40-cm pelvis, so after he got himself well wedged, I had a C-section. He ended up 9 lb 7 oz; just small enough (under 10#) that I was allowed to carry him after surgery!
With #2, we kept a close watch on his head size, and when he showed himself to be just as big a bruiser, elected for a second C-section. He was 9 lb 5 oz; just a trifle smaller.
So my advice to prospective moms is to vet one's potential mates for head size.

Madison was very little, She was 5 pounds and 1 3/4 ounce.
I pushed 2 hour and 39 minutes, before the doctor figured out my uterus was shaped like a heart instead of a pear. They said no way she could come out that way...it would have broke her neck
