I know there's questions about LeEco's presense in the US - if they're even still there or not. I just called them and their support line still works and looking at recent XDA threads, people have been setting up RMAs and getting replacement phones without issues

their pre-installed apps cannot be un-installed or disabled.. in case you don't know abt it..!! also I experienced call receiving issues..

Use a custom rom such as Paranoid Android or Lineage OS. I just bought one for little sis, will see how the process goes, hopefully not too bad. I'll update here with what happens.

Update: No easy way to unlock the boot loader, I still haven't found one. If anyone finds a way, please update the thread as others are surely looking. I might return the phone if I can't unlock it.
