How well do these older models hold up? Typically, I don't buy anything less than earlier in year (for tech products) and this is 2015. Never bought a Mac before and just do not want to get caught with no support, etc. Thoughts?

Very well. I have a 2012 and just did a Genius Bar/phone support with no problems. Apple is very good about support and longevity.

Apple offers first-class support for seven years from the date of introduction. OS support sometimes can last longer, but will never be under seven years. I think that's very, very good. Also note the machine will still work perfectly even if Apple doesn't release any further OS updates. Virus(*) and slowdown-due-to-time (ie the old Windows problems) don't really exist on the Mac.

* Yes the Mac has viruses. They're few and far between; most never see them. PC virus and virus-like issues are common as dirt; there's no comparison.

Woot "refurbished" is used and abused. RAM is not upgradable on these, if I remember correctly. And if so, you'll be stuck with 8gb, which isn't a lot even today

For Photoshop, sure. For web, email, games, and most other things though it's plenty.

Come on man, dont post false info. Someone might buy this and think they can upgrade the ram....

"As first confirmed by site sponsor Other World Computing, this RAM is soldered onboard and cannot be upgraded at all after the purchase of the system."

Well I'll be damned. Didn't know they switched for iMacs too.
