If I buy a movie at Fandango can I watch it on other services?

If I buy a movie at Fandango can I watch it on other services like Vudu, Amazon, Movies Anywhere, etc.? I'm ready to buy John Wick 2 with 2 promo codes but I'm worried about not being able to watch it later if Fandango goes out of business.

Ghost in the Shell is another possibility if it has the option of being able to be viewed on other services.

I bought John Wick 2 and it at least shows up on Vudu. I didn't see it on movies anywhere though. Not sure about the other sites.

Yes, you can as long as you have Vudu and FandangoNow connected to Ultraviolet. It may take a little bit for it to transfer from FandangoNow to Vudu. If your Vudu is connected to MoviesAnywhere then it should go there and transfer to Amazon also.

Unfortunately it won't at least for the time being.
Lionsgate & Paramount have not signed on to Disney's (cough**draconian**cough) Movies Anywhere. If they do those titles will likely become MA eligible titles quickly but nothing is set in stone. At least they are UV titles (both John Wick 2 and Ghost in the Machine) so when you purchased J.W. 2 that was recorded in your UV library and shows up in your Vudu Account because you have it linked to your UV account as well. But that is all the further it will go.

If you want to check out a purchase like that in advance say in your example you wanted to purchase from Fandangonow. Make sure it's a UV eligible title (has their faded Black and White UV symbol on the purchase page on FandangoNow (which J.W. 2 and G.In.T.S. both do).
Then hop over to Vudu and make sure on the same movie page that you see a UV AND a MA badge much easier to see on Vudu they are brightly colored. Then it should at this time port from FandangoNow via UV (recorded purchase) which is then available to other UV services - VUDU. From their if a title is currently both UV and MA then it should port to the other services. If they don't and you gave it ample time to happen then contacting MA support should fix it (but don't mention that you bought it at FandangoNow - that point should be irrelavant because you bought it and it was recorded in your UV library but MA may in the future hassling or denying those ports so just F.Y.I. no need to mention it).

Unfortunately, though J.W. 2 and G.I.T.S. are NOT MA eligible.
J.W. 2 because Lionsgate isn't participating and G.I.T.S. is a Dreamworks title. That recently changed distribution partnerships in late 2016/ early 2017 over to Universal but there may be some hiccup with digital distribution - so far only UV. I know it has a digital code, I just bought the G.I.T.S. 3D recently but didn't redeem the code yet, but no MA at this point and no info on when or if they might change.

One Note, MA was threatening (punitive punishment for FandangoNow perhaps) to not allow that daisy-chain-hopping from non-MA digital sellers (Vudu, Google, Amazon, iTunes) to port into MA. So you need to also check in periodically and make sure Disney didn't change yet another thing for the worse with MA in the time in between.

You have to be careful about blanket statements though like that because one major Paramount and 1 sub-major studio Lionsgate aren't a part of MA so the furthest they can go is to UV streaming sites now (VUDU or the ones owned/run by studios). There are also several minor studios that partially support UV but are not a part of MA.
And the person you give the info to has to know that they need to check for UV symbols on both FandangoNow and Vudu and that on Vudu since it is the only one of them that is a part of MA - that the movie on Vudu must also then be a MA eligible one.

FandangoNow has less than 1/3 the library that Vudu has and still find many that Vudu has worked out an agreement with the studio for UV rights that FandangoNow does not yet have so it's important to check for and verify movies being considered are UV badged on both streaming services.

Thanks for your reply. I'll bookmark it for later use.

I was familiar with the UV symbol on Vudu. I looked on Fandango but for the life of me I couldn't find it or get Firefox's setting or its add-on settings right to show the symbols. I'll have to try something else like using another browser the next time.

Cheers
