Notes on Ring products:

1) Subscription to their service is a critical part to gain full functionality of the product.

2) The Ring Video Doorbells are a cloud video intercom product with some security camera features. Recommend also covering your front door with a security camera recording 24/7.

3) ID distance for ring products are fairly short due to a wide FOV.
ID distance to the point where you have 100 ppf ( max theoretical, real conditions expect a reduced distance * ):
Ring Video Doorbell 720p at 160 degrees: 4.08 feet { 23.23 sq feet covered }
Ring Video Doorbell 2 / Pro / Elite 1080p at 160 degrees: 6.88 feet { 66.06 sq feet covered }
Ring Spotlight Cam wired / battery / solar 1080p at 140 degrees: 7.86 feet { 75.44 sq feet covered }
Ring Floodlight Cam 1080p at 140 degrees: 7.86 feet { 75.44 sq feet covered }

4) Internet connectivity and successful cloud service communication is required.

5) Remember to test all cloud connected products with a simulated internet outage by disconnecting your internet to wifi router cable and seeing how the product(s) behave. Some will fail more gracefully than others.

Quote from riggedveda :
30 days free trial. After that either $3/month or $30/year per Ring device, OR $10/month or $100/year for unlimited Ring devices. Even with the paid plans, only 60 days of recordings are retained. Without paying, after the free trial, only the live feed is available - which I think is severely limited. ..

Ring would have killed all competition if they give free access to the recorded video at least for a few days. Their subscription model pricing led me to choose Skybell and I'm well pleased with it.
dude....50off any product
I wanted to like my Ring Pro. Really did. Bought it and a Chime Pro as a gift for my in-laws. Installed it over the holidays. First one worked ok except that sound was absolutely horrible. Crackling and feedback sound. Person at door heard me perfectly clearly but on my iphone and ipad (as the recipient), I couldn't hear a clear word. Troubleshooted with Ring rep for an hour and he finally told me to just exchange a new one. Second unit worked a little better, until after an hour when it refused to even power up. Nothing happened. Nada. So I exchanged it for a THIRD unit. Third unit refused to power up even once!!! App said voltage was very good (newly-built 1 year old home) and signal was good. Went back to the first one with the crappy sound. Figured it was better than nothing.

Needless, to say, completely frustrated with this thing. 1 working out of 3????? And not perfectly? Come on Ring! This would never happen to Nest or Apple.

They give you 30 days, then it's super cheap for a years access...and if you contact support they'll gladly give you more time for free. Best customer support I've dealt with.

Is it a 30 day free trial though or keep any video up to 30 days ?

Got a dead one out of the box, it wouldn't power up at all. Return it to Lowe's for a second one and now everything works out fine.

My Ringbell Pro was dead in 6 months but they gave me a free replacement. Let's see how long they last

Anybody personally compare the Pro to the Ring 2? It seems like the Ring 2 would be a better deal at $50 less for just a few less features (basic motion detecting and 2.4 GHz only for the Ring 2) but you get the advantage of a battery backup (+ hardwire).

Lowe's must have had a bad batch mine from Lowe's was DOA as well. Ring replaced it for free new ring pro works great.
