W H No. Once any one of the color toners are completely empty the black will not function.

Looks like it takes 4 cartridges, and has been on SD in Nov,Dec as well.

This place is nothing but self promotion. You realize slickdeals is a mass organized affiliate machine masquerading as a tool to help us find deals, right? Slickdeals is basically the new qvc. I bought this at this price from B&H back in November, and I've been very pleased with it. The print quality is excellent, and it has a ton of useful features like single-pass duplex scanning. Toner is not cheap, but the cartridges are rated for a ton of pages.
My two biggest issues with it are (1) the software is a little clunky and (2) it is absolutely enormous. I looked at the weight and dimensions before buying it, but nothing really prepared me for how big and heavy it is. But in all, would definitely buy again at this price.

I got this one last time it was at this price. Nice printer and prints awesome color but takes a long time for the first page to come out. Around 30 sec. if anyone knows how to make it print faster, that would be sweet.

For fine printing, wish it was at least 1200x1200 so both horizontal and vertical axis was higher resolution.

Yes, because ink dries, toner is colored plastic dust with tiny pieces of metal in the mix to become statically (as in electricity) charged.

Laser printers are far better for occasional use vs ink-jet. Ink jets will get dry ink clogging the print head if not used regularly. Lasers don't suffer from this.
