I seem to remember this axe on sale before but darned if I can find it. I'm not really interested in it but I was only searching to see what the price was before.

Thanks! Nice find. I tried a few different search combinations without any luck on the PC. I find it interesting how adorama drops their prices on some of these deals.
Mexi-Fenders often get a bad rap. No idea about this particular one, but many are actually quite nice, such as the Road Worn Strats w/ Tex-Mex pickups and the Blacktops from 2012..
I paid retail for mine $899 when it came out and I love mine. It's got a super slim neck carve that I love so fast and easy. I'm a longtime musician and have owned many guitars. I give this a thumbs up even for MIM it's really nicely made and the only officially liscensed Monterey other than the custom fender that's about 20k and was limited. I'm tempted to buy another at this price!
No, it's pre-programed to spontaneously burst into flames if you place it on the ground and you get on your knees with the guitar neck facing directly away from you.

Sure, it's 2.5x as much, but hey, you said you're willing to pay more for something if it is made in the USA. So..... hop to it, kid!
