How do I keep it activated?
Why only that store?
Is this laptop worth buying? My main purpose is for business and Photoshop / After Effects & higher rendering. Basic gaming too lol
It's solid other than the screen being a bit flimsy due to the weird design. It's not an insane deal but it's way better than some of the cheaper laptops. The battery is internal but pretty decent in capacity.
I took it apart and installed a m.2 ssd and a fresh install of windows 10 ltsb. Here is a photo of the 'guts' for those interested: https://i.imgur.com/i0oWrAz.jpg
Got it. Took a lot more umph than I thought it would need.
I have pictures of the m.2 slot & what I believe is an empty RAM slot on my motherboard. Just need to figure out how to post them here now.....
Can someone shed some light on how I can post pictures in here?

What tool seemed most effective in getting the back off? I'm having a bit of trouble with my current took set.
edit: Got it!

Here are the pics from my 2.5 SSD and Ram upgrades. Also a few tips.

Way better user experience after I installed the SSD. Could live without 16gb of ram if you had to choose.
Also if you have an old win 7, 8, or 8.1 Pro (or better) key laying around you can get a free upgrade from home to pro.

Link to the drivers if you are doing a fresh install.

Link to a touchpad driver that has all the supported options working. I needed a two finger tap to be a middle button click as it opens a new tab in my browser.

If you have an older style HP power supply, and you want to use it with your new laptop, look for a 7.4mm Female To 4.5mm Male Plug adapter. Should be $1 on ebay. I have not tested it yet myself, but google suggests it works as long as your old power supply is able to provide sufficient wattage.
Give rep if I helped please. It's free.
Purpose:
Business : any laptop with intel i5 should be fine. SSD is preferable to main hard drive.
Photoshop: sky is the limit if you start bring up adobe stuff. You can spend $3000 in a top of the line machine and you can say its not rendering fast enough. - serious graphic people needs want IPS Panel which this have. And perhaps higher res screen 2k or more which this does not have.
More scrolling with 1080p vs 2k
Gaming : 1050TI can play many games at medium low setting for now. You can check out youtube for frame rates. Imo 1050TI chip is very entry gaming chip.
Weight : 5lbs with charger 6lbs not portable in my opinion.
Since this machine isn't portable anyway, if you want a machine that can handle gaming and graphic needs, best bang for the buck would be building a desktop system. Something like ryzen 7 with gtx 1060 and above.
if I have a kid who want to play mind craft and want to play some games with friends and do some homework, this would be a good buy.
- add 8gb more ram upgrade your self
- add ssd and that drive should be your boot drive ( main drive where windows are installed )
- if you are running business, you need yo have a back up files regularly. I know someone who lost 3 years of CRM and sales data due to one hard failure.
If you want a laptop that has IPS, can play game, portable, thin, SSD.... etx it will run the north of $1500 plus.

Here's my story. I bought a Crucial 8GB Single DDR4 2400 MT/s (PC4-19200) DR x8 SODIMM 260-Pin Memory - CT8G4SFD824A from Amazon and the system got slower for most things by a few seconds. Boot time was slightly faster but starting up Photoshop, Premier CC 2018 and Diablo 3 took seconds longer.
on power
boot up to login/pin window 30 after ram 23 <--FASTER
photoshop start up 1:05 after ram 1:30 <--SLOWER
premier startup 1:07 after ram 1:36 <--SLOWER
d3 start up from bnet 34 after ram 37 <--SLOWER
start game from hero screen 13 after ram 22 <--SLOWER
I then installed Acronis True Image 2018 and tried a disk clone while using the Samsung Evo 500GB drive with a USB adapter. I kept getting an disk lock error and it failed so I made a Windows recovery flash drive (from Acronis) and tried to clone from that. It also failed and then the internall 1TB disk failed to boot to Windows. Nothing I did helped, I had to do a recover (two times, first time failed). So I was back at a fresh install and tried to clone from a Linux recovery flash drive (from Acronis) and it failed, too, but it was able to boot back into windows.
So, I downloaded the Microsoft media creator tool (MediaCreationTool1809) and made a Win10 flash drive, installed Windows from that and it's Active. I have no idea how it is active but I have rebooted it a dozen times and it is still active.
Thing is a beast now compared to that 1TB HDD:
on power ssd
boot up to pin 9 after ram 10
photoshop start up 7 after ram 12
premier startup 13 after ram 16
d3 start up from bnet 13 after ram 13
start game from hero screen 8 after ram 9
Good info, I might have to change that F key setting...but I think I might try to learn not to. I rarely use anything but F2 (rename) and the other options on they keys are used a lot more.
True story.
