I have been shopping for a GTX 1070 for my son for about a month. I have been targeting $300 or under for a price. With the eBay discount code this comes out to $278.99 free shipping. No tax in many states, worked for me in MN.

Should I wait another month?
AMD will be announcing new GPUs next month at CES that run directly against the GTX 1080 and GTX 1070. Reputable recent leaks suggest the GTX 1070 competitor could start low as $199.

The GTX 1070 is 74% faster on average is the 17th fastest card versus the RX 470 is the 50th fastest card.

I would think for 1080P you would get very good frame rates at ultra settings on most games. This is probably not the best 4k card, you could probably give it a try on some games with the settings turned down a bit. For under $300 it might be the best card out there for 1080P and high frame rates.
For 1080p gaming, is it worth getting a Ti or is the regular 1070 enough? I'm coming from an RX 470 on a Ryzen 7 2600, mostly playing Mechwarrior Online, and will probably play Mechwarrior 5 when it comes out.
But I live literally 15minutes away from the seller's, and I have to pay around $30 in tax here in CA.

By the way, some people may compare this card with the one that was sold for $280-$300 on bf/cm by bhphoto and amazon. This is the basic version with the lowest clocks, while the previous one was the superclocked versions with higher clocks.
I will pass, but if you can get it for $280 total then its a good deal for anyone needing a card RIGHT NOW.

That same day I bought the 1070 from amazon for barely more, then they accidentally sent me the 1070 ti and paid me extra to keep it... but now I have to hope it works properly since EVGA won't honor the warranty if it doesn't.
Either way, though, people can't act like that ONE day on amazon is the norm. It's VERY rare that even the standard 1070 goes under $300.
I am new to gaming from couple of months and i wanted to see how I like it. so I bought 1050ti ssc because prices were high. Just playing pubg & csgo . So do you recommend any gpu upgrade like 1070ti or shall I I over clock current GPU and use it for couple of years. Please suggest. Thank you.
