I joined the local brewer's guild last night. The cool thing is, they meet monthly at the Dunedin Brewery. They also get a discount at the homebrew store I've already been shopping at.

It's been 23 hours since pitching the yeast and I already see quite a bit of action in my airlock.

This is my first time using an airlock. I used a blowoff tube for my first brew. Do I need to worry about re-filling the airlock at anytime during the fermentation process? Is the water in there going to get discolored as time goes by?

I've never had to refill it and it's never gotten discolored.

BTW, Brian, my airlock started bubbling again. The temp has been 71-72 up until later today. It's starting to creep up to 74. So, I put some ice in there to keep it from going up any further.

i usually see action anywhere between 8 hours and 24 hours of when i pitch the yeast... you should see action for 2-3 days then it will subside... don't worry to refill airlock unless evaporation takes its tole(though not hot enough), and the water should look the same unless your krausen goes into the airlock...and if thats the case, hook up a blowoff!!

For what its worth, I have sink, plumbing, and two Nugget rhizomes in the ground.

Can I pull off my first homebrew after work or should I wait for the weekend?
