I hadn't found anyone that had posted this yet, should be available soon. Looks like it has been this price before, but I would be hard pressed to beat a complete Xeon server with ECC RAM for $300.

That build might be slightly inferior quality (not necessarily though) but will be more power efficient and be more future-proof.
This Dell will make a great NAS but is overkill for most people if you just need a NAS. If you want to run VMs or use it for other intensive purposes, this is much better than the Synology deal, for example. The 218+, however, will be much better for the average user - easier to support, easier to setup (not having to install and manage FreeNAS), more power efficient, etc.

Because they stopped making it like 4 years ago. You can buy an i3 that is comparable to this CPU, making your "great" deal "not great"
Edit: not an expert but I would think something desktop class with quicksync or just a ryzen and overpower it if you want HD transcoding.
