I hadn't found anyone that had posted this yet, should be available soon. Looks like it has been this price before, but I would be hard pressed to beat a complete Xeon server with ECC RAM for $300.

This is a good price for what you get but considering it sold for $300 1.25 years ago (e.g., https://slickdeals.net/f/10816139-dell-poweredge-t30-mini-server-intel-xeon-e3-1225-1tb-hdd-299-free-shipping), it's becoming harder to justify buying at this price. This is particularly true with the aging processor. It's a solid processor with comparable performance to an i5-7400 @ 3 GHz (I know they are different classes of processors). The issue is an i3-8100 typically outperforms an i5-7400 and the i3 only costs $120. You can put together a comparable but not server-class i3-8100 system for $300 (not including an OS):
Intel - Core i3-8100 3.6 GHz Quad-Core Processor, Gigabyte - H310M A Micro ATX LGA1151 Motherboard, G.Skill - Ripjaws V Series 8 GB, Seagate - Constellation ES 1 TB 3.5" 7200RPM Internal Hard Drive, Rosewill - FBM-05 MicroATX Mini Tower Case, Corsair - CX (2017) 450 W 80+ Bronze Certified ATX Power Supply. See PCPartPicker.

That build might be slightly inferior quality (not necessarily though) but will be more power efficient and be more future-proof.

This Dell will make a great NAS but is overkill for most people if you just need a NAS. If you want to run VMs or use it for other intensive purposes, this is much better than the Synology deal, for example. The 218+, however, will be much better for the average user - easier to support, easier to setup (not having to install and manage FreeNAS), more power efficient, etc.

Because they stopped making it like 4 years ago. You can buy an i3 that is comparable to this CPU, making your "great" deal "not great"

In the future I will be looking for something like this. Thinking about an appropriate box for an Untangle Appliance, but this would likely be over kill.

Actually my friend lives there. Does anyone know if I can use his shipping address or do they tax based on billing address?

The CPU cost itself seems to be about $268 as per cpubenchmark.net, so this definitely is a great deal!!

I just did the same thing and I was on the fence on building my own thing for plex purposes... Maybe I should return it? But synology reviews are amazing and people act like it changed their lives. Maybe I should get both... This can be for VMs too.

Is this a good build for blue iris and 5 poe cameras? Was thinking of either building a new computer build or buy one of these to save me the time.

What are your goals and budget? You can pretty much use anything for blue Iris and 5 cameras. I mean the minimum requirements can be met on a computer I built over 10 years ago. http://blueirissoftware.com/download/

Edit: not an expert but I would think something desktop class with quicksync or just a ryzen and overpower it if you want HD transcoding.
