Got this from the last Slickdeal of very same card, at the same price, and I pulled the trigger.
I couldn't be happier, it handles 1440p 60hz in mid to high settings for every game I'm throwing at it (AAA titles from 2015 to 2019), however my setup is not normal, here's how I have the card running:
* Sonnet 550 watts external eGPU enclosure through Thunderbolt 3.
* Laptop with 8th gen. i7 2.6Ghz base clock
* 32Gb DDR4
Here's the highlights:
** Card does run at 99% load (depending on the settings), so it is safe to confirm that you won't be CPU constrained with a mobile processor like mine (at least with 2.6Ghz base clock).
** CPU runs at constant 20-30% load, individual clocks do spike 100%, but the CPU itself runs at71-79C
** GPU inside that enclosure runs anywhere from 75-80C, never seen it spike to 85C.
The only game I have seen using my card at 99% non-stop, sucking the life (at 78C) out of my new Vega 56, is...(drumbs).. Crysis 2, you guessed right!, I get anywhere from 60-90 FPS at 1440p with ultra settings and high resolution textures.
