Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

I'd check out At&t's coverage in the areas you frequent before unloading the $300.00. Freeup may be a good cheap way to test it.
Both Verizon and AT&T maps show the whole state blanketed with their coverage but neither are accurate once "in the field" as we call it. Thought about trying an AT&T MVNO before committing but currently can't due to a work/medical situation so I just went for it. IF WiFi calling works out I should be ok, but that's a "if and a should"... lol

Online is fine. Don't forget to freeze/lock your original credit card before activation. System will try to charge 300+ on your card right after activation even if you used the refill to make the payment.

If I'm with red Pocket using the CDMA (AT&T) coverage....would I have to port out to a different provider (TMo, Sprint, etc) and then go to AT&T prepaid to qualify? And if so how long do you think I have to use a different carrier?

When I chatted with them re: the $300 plan they said if nothing else changes, the plan will revert to $50/$40 with autopay rate.

Just want to share the painful process of how I ported to this plan and funded with prepaid cards.
First - Special thanks to those who tried doing this and letting others know this is possible and second for useful hints and heads up many people shared.

I was on google fi and paid no less than $47 every month with 2GB of data - yes, there are other perks but..

Ordered SIM through the plan link and about 5.xx was charged to my card when it shipped. SIM arrived in 1 working day. It had my current number stuck on the packet.
Meanwhile I ordered $300 prepaid cards from target online and got the codes by email - I paid through paypal discover and since I am in my first year i have cashback match so my total discount is 10% (main reason I decided to risk taking the prepaid card route - $30 from discover and $21 saving on tax)

I put the SIM on another phone and I could see the network. I called customer care and she recognized the plan etc. but had no clue about the porting and activation process. She tried to convince me that a device purchase was mandatory for this $300 plan to work and directed me to the same link and said she will hold while I buy a $60-$1000 phone. I kept insisting that this works with BYOP. She was fiddling and just gave up and told me another customer care number which routes to the same call center.

The next time I called a sweet talking guy kept talking for hours and finally said this is a SIM issue and the SIM had magically expired or damaged. Solution was to go to ATT store and buy a new SIM and do the process again.

This went on couple of times with each of them not being able to port in the first place - leave alone promo plan activation.
I gave up at this point and thought $300 cards should be listed on craigslist for $10 off and write off my losses.

Finally after about 3 hrs of back and forth one CSR guy went step after step and my old phone disconnected, new phone activation message arrived, got my recharge card PINs one after another, funded my account and said my plan was activated. He held on till I restarted my phone, tested the internet and calling. Everything went well and boom I was ported.

Some kind person mentioned to freeze my original card before I spoke to customer service, which I did. Exactly an hour after activation ATT tried to charge my card and it bounced. SPECIAL THANKS to someone from SD. I logged into myATT and ensuread all plan details etc. were ok and everything seems alright at the moment. I am not unfreezing my CC for atleast 24hrs and lets see how it goes..

Well ATT is not CDMA-that is either Sprint or Verizon. The sims are labeled CDMA which is verizon and CDMAS which is Sprint.

I'm also on straight talk ATT. I'm basically following for same reason. But I got a few free months from straight talk from referrals. New member get a month, person that referred them get a month. So hopefully everyone can chime in on what officially worked for them.
Had no issue porting from straight talk. i went to the at&t store to do it. you can probably do it at home but use a different phone or landline not the number you are porting. Make sure you have you account number and pin ready from straight talk. the store put me on the phone with the porting dept and rep did a 3 way call with straight talk and the process was done instantly. the whole call took 15mins total.

Apparently so. I know it's device dependent but I was able to enable it after getting everything setup today. It showed up as a menu option that was not available before and when I enable it I had multiple disclaimers to accept and had to verify my address for 911 purposes if a location could not be determined.

Some links in case they're of any help.
To activate a prepaid SIM- https://www.att.com/prepaid/activ...ivate.html

Mine said it was activated but I couldn't call 611 for customer service on the device and I couldn't log into the account post activation screen. Had to wait till wife came home with her phone to call support. Credit card only showed a charge for $5 sim at this time.

This is to check the progress of a number being ported to ATT- https://www.att.com/port/lnpEntryWeb.do

Mine now says "completed" but before and during activation it stated something different, "confirmed" I believe. I entered the number to port during original checkout and I checked my old carriers website and it showed the number had been deactivated and service canceled yesterday. ATT Chat told me service / SIM was activated and to wait 45 minutes, power cycle phone, and all should be good. Still couldn't call 611 or any numbers on device an hour later. When I did finally get CSR on wifey's phone I told CSR I had activated the line on the SIM/IMCI with the link above and it was successful, I was porting a number, old carrier showed line was deactivated / disconnected, and then relayed to CSR whatever the "port status" link showed above. She put me on hold, told me the port was still processing but she would push it, hold again, and she returned saying the port was done and I'd need to pay the $300 (plus taxes) to get service activated. Gave her CC info and shortly afterwards did a test call with my phone and verified data was operational.

Ironically I avoided the Target card fiasco because I though it would add an opportunity for error but if I had the cards when she asked for payment I probably could have just read the numbers off.

And as I typed this I received a 2nd notification of payment text and my credit card has two $328 pending charges from AT&T... #facepalm

I want to purchase this deal for myself and my wife. I go to checkout and don't see an option to buy the deal 2x and get 2 Sims in the mail. Do I have to create 2 accounts separately one for each phone?

I am on Fi with $55 bill for 2, use 500MB each line per month. What other perks you are talking about? Fi is bad in remote areas. And in cities I often manually switch to TMobile as Sprint network is bad and can't use data while on call. Thinking of switching to this.
