Oh gosh why do you continue writing your username after your post 😱
Plus taxes and fees. If you live in IL like I do, taxes will be like $8 extra per month. There is always a $5 e911 fee plus other bogus fees.

It's not $300. It's $300 + taxes. Depending on your zip code your estimated up front taxes would be around $30 so you should buy another $30 card. Read my comments to others, they will still charge your CC even though you'll fund the account via GCs. Good luck with the fight and let us know your outcome!

FYI if you pay 1 year upfront, you can get 8gb from Mint Mobile for $20 a month (240 a year). TMo signal.
From what I've heard mint tends to throttle alot.

I'm still stuck, I've messaged stupid ass AT&T support on social media and all I've gotten is "we will look into your account" then they go silent.

I activated my SIM, verified my number was ported successfully, and it won't let me add prepaids to my account because "no prepaid exists with that phone number". Really hate AT&T's website, I'm giving them about 24 hours before I say fark it and re-up with T-Mobile. Super disappointed at how clunky/outdated their website is, and their lack of online chat support unless you pay for it is... well, outdated.

Ordered and paid for a SIM card with a new number since I just recently moved... Got the SIM card the today and it has the wrong area code. Called the CS number and they say they can't change the phone number because it's tied to the plan - and suggest I "deal with it" for a year. They said I entered the wrong zip code - but the order number has my address and CORRECT zip code on it!

Then they tell me I need to get a refund since they charged me the $300 when I activated, and go to an AT&T store to get a new SIM so I don't have to buy a new one. Drive there, get a SIM, get home and LOW AND BEHOLD - I CAN'T ACTIVATE THE MFing thing. Chatting with them - now I have to call and request a refund of the SIM they screwed up on, order a new one (hoping to god they don't screw that up), and wasted a trip to an AT&T store.

I should have known better.....

For anyone having activation and porting issues, you just need to go through the myriad of numbers and auto phone prompts to get to a real person. Once I did that basically had to redo everything even though you entered it all initially. Once that is done and you can log in you are set and can find your account however you wish

My area code numbers are exhausted. So I got a number from new area code that is for my zip. Didn't matter to me as I use Google Voice.

If they would have given me an area code from the same zip I would have been OK with that. I got an area code from 3 states away...

Successfully ported my number from H2O wireless. Total cost: Approx $295. Here is my experience.

While ordering online, I got an error saying number cannot be transferred. I called AT&T Prepaid customer service (800) 901-9878 . It looks like they are aware of online issues. The agent was ready to setup account and port over the phone. However, he needed a SIM card which I didn't have. So the next day I got the AT&T prepaid SIM card from Walmart (cost $10). I again called customer service number but this time got a different agent who said the promo is a online only and wont be able to apply over phone. I called the number again, got a new agent who was able to help. He setup my account and initiated the port. He mentioned that I need to pay $300 upfront. When i asked if I could buy refill cards and pay next day, he was ok with it. The port was confirmed in about 30 mins (Link: https://www.att.com/port/lnpEntryWeb.do). I then ordered six $50 refill cards at samsclub.com which are discounted. The total cost was approx $285. https://www.samsclub.com/p/at-t-1...roduct_1_1 Got the refill cards in email about 4 hours. In the meantime, I was also able to access AT&T prepaid online account at https://www.att.com/myprepaid . Once I got the refill cards from Sam's club, i just logged in online and refilled it. That's it!
Thanks to OP for sharing this deal and everyone for sharing their experiences! This is a very helpful forum!

Edit: I did not give my credit card to ATT in the whole process. While filling online form, I got message saying my H2O number cannot be transferred, so I did not submit. Everything was done over phone with customer service.
Thank you for posting this. I was about to do the same but I got something come up in the last minute so I decided to stay with H2O for another month.
My question for you is, do you think if I can go ahead sign up the prepaid account with ATT and buy the prepaid card (from Sam's) and load them to the account now and wait until next week and I call them to start the porting number over
Thank you

Surely someone has answered, but you need to set up an APN in the phone that has all the settings like mms server, port, and types.
xt 'SETUP' to 6700
If you have a compatible Android device, you'll receive a notification to automatically install your settings. If you are on an iPhone or a non-compatible Android device, you'll receive a message with manual instructions. Simply follow the steps.
2. Update manually
Sometimes the good-old-fashioned way is best. Check out our step-by-step instructions on how to set up your data for Android and iPhone devices.

Android

On your Android device, go to Settings -- More Networks -- Cellular (or Mobile) Networks -- Access Point Names -- hit the '+'

Now enter the following under each field: Cellular Data:
Name - Ultra
APN - Wholesale
Proxy - (leave blank)
Port - 8080
Username & Password - (leave blank)
Server - (leave blank)
MMS: MMSC - http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy - (leave blank)
MMS Port - (leave blank)
MNC - 260
Authentication Type - (leave blank)
APN Type - default,supl,mms
MCC - 310

iPhone

On your iPhone, go to Settings -- Cellular -- Cellular Data Options -- Cellular Data Network (this may differ depending on which iOS version you have)

Now enter the following under each field:

CELLULAR DATA
APN - alpha
Username - (leave blank)
Password - (leave blank)

MMS
APN - wholesale
Username - (leave blank)
Password - (leave blank)
MMSC - http://wholesale.mmsmvno.com/mms/wapenc
MMS Proxy - (leave blank)
MMS Max Message Size - 1048576
MMS UA Prof URL: - http://apple.com/mms/uaprof.rdf

LTE SETUP (OPTIONAL)
Leave all these fields blanks

=============
note sometimes

For ANDROID if you can't send text messages with images and you are manually setting the APN parameters, the problem is caused because your keyboard adds a space after a comma. What should be APN Type - default, supl, mms is entered as APN Type - default, supl, mms See the difference? You have to delete the space that is automatically entered after the comma! Presto! Problem fixed!!

I called AT&T sales this morning. After putting me on hold for about 30 minutes, the representative told me that he confirmed it with Prepaid department that this rate is only good for ONE year. After that, this 8GB plan will be 50 dollars without autopay and $40 with autopay.

Did you buy sim card with a credit card from ATT website? Was there any declined transactions on your CC?

Yes, I bought sim with a credit card. I logged into my cc account to check and there are no pending or declined charges for this.

I think they can change this whenever they feel like it. I swear I read something about them giving you 30 days notice of any changes.

As I understand it though, we can have this rate for as long as they feel like giving it to us, which means next year, if it's still available, we could theoretically renew for another year. I think this is the more likely scenario since we're locked in, unless we choose to unlock ourselves and go for that $40/$50 you mention.

My gut feeling tells me they'll let people that signed up for it renew. Anyone who never signed up is obviously locked out of this promotion.

I was kinda worried about this so I'm in the process of switching from the Cricket 5gb plan to the At&t Prepaid 25gb plan. I'll end up paying around $32.00 per month using discounted refill cards and auto-pay.
