    I read through the entire website description and looked at all the pictures and I still can't really figure out the point of these.

    They are similar to Nanoleaf smart lights which are more commonly known I would say. I have a few sets of nanoleaf's panels but I wanted to give LIFX Tiles a try - they were just always too expensive IMO.

    I agree that the shortcomings of this seem to be the software (some of the problems have been fixed via app updates in the 7-8 months since the video was posted)

    For anyone who has been looking for them, I figured close to half price is a good deal. I have been watching them for about a year and I believe the cheapest I had seen prior was $179 on a sale + google express coupon stacked.

    I think this is a good deal, but only because these things have been stupidly overpriced ($50/tile is highway robbery) since their release with almost no discounts ever. If you've been dying to have these, this would probably be the time to get them... Although, if they're finally going on sale now, maybe the wall has finally cracked and further discounts are in the near future.

    That said, the competing Nanoleaf triangle tiles are a 9-tile set that go on sale almost monthly for $160-180 range. Those are arguably better value for the price. I personally wouldn't buy these until they drop under $100.

    Walmart price seems to falls to $122, at least when i clicked the link.
    Also for those who wants to compare, these are multi color in a single panel while nanoleaf only can display 1 color per panel. Someone actually created running pacman animation off the lifx panels. The only problem i see the most on is the lag time, and seems like the app isn't great for these guys.

    So I just got back home to set mine up and honestly it is pretty straight forward. I think the main issue people might be having is, the tiles require a 2.4ghz internet connection and a lot of people automatically connect their phone to 5ghz because it is faster when you are close enough.

    If you don't want to separate your WiFi bands, then I just walked farther across my house to trigger my phone to switch over to 2.4ghz and then the tiles connected perfectly. Also, that is only for the initial setup - once they are setup they seem to be working because they are now tied to the router. It is just during setup, these use your phone via the app to connect to your home WiFi connection.

    I will add that I set mine up on a iOS device, so I can't say how the process goes on android since I haven't tested it.

    Bought 2 sets. Had a hell of a time setting them up. I had to reset them multiple times out of the box. I did the setup right next to the Unifi access point and I had the phone on the 2.4 GHz network. Once I finally had it setup, I proceeded to play with the app. However, a few minutes later, the tiles disconnected and I had to reset them again. The entire time, the tiles were not mounted on the wall. They were right next to the Unifi access point. I'm returning both sets; this is garbage.
