John Wick 3 4K UHD for preorder at Walmart. This includes a replica coin and it's the same price as the regular Blu-ray. $24.95. Crazy deal for a new UHD limited edition. $10 cheaper than the steelbook as well.

Wait until tomorrow - vudu will have this for sale under its Disc + Digital program. Since it's owned by walmart, and the physical disc comes from Walmart, they usually have the same price. And you'll get 4K digital access early. And your physical disc will still come with a code you can sell/trade as you see fit.
Let's unpack this. First, Lionsgate tiles do give 4k access in iTunes - as long as iTunes has a 4k version (which it does for JW1/2). Lionsgate does not participate in MA so if you redeem in iTunes, it won't port anywhere else. Lionsgate titles also allow you to redeem in both Vudu and ITunes (just redeem directly on the respective platforms, not through Lionsgate redeem site).

The issue with JW 1/2 is that they were early titles and Lionsgate screwed up and shipped some with codes that redeemed HD in vudu. As noted in the 4ksheet, you do have to contact Lionsgate to get it corrected. I personally went through it without issue (granted it did take a few days). Sounds like you had a bad experience. Can still redeem it for 4k in iTunes (even if you tried vudu already).

But in any case, JW 3 should not have this problem as Lionsgate has since fixed this for future release.
I mean, I'm someone who runs a Plex server with hundreds of digital media files I converted myself from my old collection, but if you've got a big TV and a nice sound system, disc will 100% always be objectively better unless you're dealing with 50gb or larger files, and even then they're technically "lossy".

Compare that to digital via service, like Netflix, Hulu, or Vudu, which are, at max, like 7GB per hour.

They are good, but there's definitely a place for disc media. And honestly, as long as the same crappy ISPs keep their stranglehold on data usage via caps, I doubt we'll match or surpass disc quality for quite a while. Nobody wants to use 1/10th of their monthly bandwidth cap on a single movie.

Thanks for the heads up. I had a pre-order already for this same thing I made a couple days ago for $30 that I cancelled and reordered.

Surprised that there's no "people still buy discs" comment so far

Slip Depending on the person I prefer both it depends on the film and the cost.

It's a quality product no doubt but still seems too expensive to be a SD at $24.95.

This is also $25 at Amazon (minus the exclusive coin of course.)

Seemingly the same price everywhere, but only Walmart has the medallion. Better deal is Target (with Redcard) or Amazon (with Prime Vis/store card) since you'll get 5% off/back. Or just wait for it to be cheaper.
