You really should go to another type of site and debate your points and logic. This thread is about a deal on a particular machine or two.
BTW, I was in sales, importing, manufacturing and many other businesses and it's a common formula for products to sell for 300% to 400% the cost of manufacturing. In fact, it's quite typical.
In computing and in motor vehicles and in new housing, etc. - competition as we'll as what the market will bear has sometimes cut that to the bone. Many tech companies (Amazon) sell the razors at cost or below (kindle) so you will buy the blades (books, loyalty, etc.).
I'm mentioning these things as schooling, not as debate...since they are actual fact.
But, yeah, probably you would be better off debating your opinions about what free markets should buy and sell things for...other places than SD.
It is bizarre and casually dishonest to masquerade as "educating" when I never disputed any of the irrelevant comparisons you mentioned.
It is also hilarious how you insult me for debating here, while debating me. Saying you aren't debating because something is true does not make it any less of a debating argument. And before you whine at me for disputing facts, I still haven't disputed the things you've said about other industries. I only dispute the relevance to this topic.
They are also both logical fallacies, again.
Your job history does not excuse Apple's absurd markup. The automobile industry's practices do not excuse Apple's absurd markup.
This isn't a loss-leader.
Apple's markup for storage is insane. Their RAM markup has drastically improved since a few years ago, they just haven't yet chosen to stop screwing their customers in regards to storage.
They do not need you to defend them. They are one of the wealthiest organizations in the world. They do not care that you are standing up for them, they are not going to reward you for doing it. Doing it does not validate your purchase of any of their products, it does not increase the meaning of you purchasing their products.
I have purchased their products, I will purchase more. I can both like what they do and point out their utter bullshit at the same time.

The differential between a 128GB and 256GB NVMe (same brand, same model) is $25, $50, at the absolute most $100.
