just ordered through Google Shopping. In addition to the $20 discount, they also pay for the e-waste fee. That saved me $5. I only need to find out if the additional 2 years of warranty for paying with the Costco Visa still applies through portal purchases. I will call after it ships
If i ordered from google was only saving $11.
Just took a safe alternate by buying from costco warehouse directly , which covered 4 years warranty total.

There is another good deal on Costco worth to take a look.
https://www.costco.com/dell-inspi...8499.html# [costco.com]
This is Inspirons 5000 series, which is much better than 3000 series.

Bought both $279.99 HP and this $399.99 Dell, both give excellent values given the price. Couple things I like better in this Dell one:
* way better built quality
* 2-in-1 touchscreen (comes handy once a while)
* fingerprint sensor (one touch to login)
* USB-C power charging and display capability
* support both M.2 and 2.5" (according to Dell website)
* better touchpad
* better headset audio quality
* noticeably better video quality than HP one (more detail and dynamic), not sure if it's due to graphic card or display
* fan runs quieter

Things better in HP:
* $120 cheaper
* lighter (3.24 vs 3.81)
* better CPU processing power (haven't notice the difference for my normal usage)

Both are good laptops. I think this dell one is worth $120 extra, if you find useful of those additional features.

I think whats really amazing is that this <4pound machine with screen/keyboard/battery. Can come close to ur old hunk of metal that is the desktop 4790k, not to mention the laptop cheaper at the time of purchase
That's a very good way to look at it. It's apples and oranges. I'm sure this laptop kicks any 5 year old $300 laptop's ass.

But... :-) I have a feeling that progress is slowing down as well and I'm totally spoiled by Moore's law.

I think the Dell screens max out at 200 nits, even on the 7000 series. This HP, can do 250 nits.

What was your 3D graphics score after installing the extra RAM?
It was just marginally better. Sorry I didn't save the results. But I just ran the tests again with just one 16GB stick to check the dual-channel advantage and the 3D came at 1386 compared to 1050 before. Funny feeling that with the two chips (16,4) the result was lower than that. I'll have some time to play with on Wednesday and test it with two 16GB chips as well.

Glad to get that info. The % increase is spot on with what I was expecting. That is about half from dual channel and half from more ram!
Dude, you're good. I just ran it gain with a single 16GB stick and the CPU mark came at 8881. I've just ordered a second 16GB chip and will test it again on Wednesday with the whole thing in dual channel

It's probably less due to more RAM, vs. the fact you added a 2nd stick and got benefit of dual-channel being enabled. So, whatever size stick anyone installs, you'll get a decent boost.
Very true. Half of the benefit was the dual-channel part.

I ditched the Windows entirely. First, it uses 30Gb of space and Ubuntu uses 5Gb. So I save a lot of space. Second, the Ubuntu 19.10 has a very little memory footprint so the idle Memory consumption is reduced.

Just to let you know, I haven't used Windows since 2013. Once they ditched Windows 7, I ditched them.
Well... I'm still using W7 on my desktop, for a few more months at least... Peace No plans to move desktop to W10 but I want to keep a copy on the laptop just in case. I got a bigger drive so space won't be an issue.

I just ran to the Costco and bought this.
I can confirm this one indeed has i5-1035G4, 10nm QUAD-CORE CPU.
With $279.99 price this is easily the most freakin' amazing deal of this year.
I wouldn't go quite that far. You're getting a very rich feature set but a laptop with toy like build quality commensurate with the low price. If you're a heavy user, the poor keyboard, trackpad and fan noise might be too much to put up with.

I just ordered it through their website and will be delivered in 2-3 days. Any chance I can figure out the processor (i3 vs i5) on this laptop without opening up the box? Hopefully it's i5 and not too late in the game? Does it also have touchscreen? For all the pros out there, Do you guys recommend getting extended warranty on this laptop through square trade or just use it for 2-3 years and throw it away if something happens to it? BTW I bought it using my Citi-Costco card. Thanks
