Good point. My guess is the photo is right and the description is wrong. The maple neck is the more common combo for the color.

I don't understand why this is so expensive.

My Ibanez Blazer is quite frankly identical to the Stratocaster, yet is worth a fraction of the discounted cost (last I checked ebay anyway).

What makes these guitars ludicrously expensive? I'd compare the situation to cars from Ferrari or Lamborghini, but those have actual specs/features other cars don't to go along with their high price tags. These don't.

Keeps dropping $50 each time. Last year's model stopped dropping when it hit $700. I may bite if it drops to there as this is a much nicer color. I don't really need another guitar, or do I....

I purchased this guitar the last time it was on sale, I absolutely love it. This is a maple fretboard and the limited addition aspect is that thistle body is a gloss finish by not like the normal Satin Finish on the American Performer Strat.

I purchased an American Special Tele last year and it works for me, I love the feel of the neck so this Strat was a no brainer for me. This American Strat has the new Yosemite PUPS, Vintage 21.1 tuners, grease bucket circuits and the push pull knob for the neck / bridge combo. Yes the professional has different features making it a superior guitar vs the performer however for me I cannot used to tall narrow frets.

Great buy for $749

I bought the one last year when it hit $700. That's more of a realistic price for these. I will grab one if they drop to $700, but these also list for $50 more than they did a year ago so it might not happen.

Yes it is dirt cheap. This is a great deal. If I didn't already have so many guitars I would be super tempted because I am one of the people who loves the lake placid blue color. Love it!

Does your guitar have fret buzz at lower action? I bought 2 of these several months apart and both have fret buzz. I read online that it affects all of these, but surely there must be one out there without. Big Grin

Edit: I raised the action and that solved it, but warning for anyone who prefers low action.

I got the American Deluxe Strat Plus that popped up on SD about three years for about the same price as this (mine has a hard case, though). That was quite a deal, but this one is still pretty darn good. I'm still waiting for my MIM Tele to arrive that I bought from these guys last week.
