The towers were as low as $430 several days ago but have gone back back back up to $739. However, the package price still reflects the lower price for each component.
I know Def Tech isn't everyone's cup of tea, but the deal seems to be solid. I got Best Buy to price match Amazon with no issue. Still deciding whether to pick them up, but wanted to share the deal.

If you have listened and love these $1,177 for LCR is pretty darn good!
My center alone was just under this!
I already have a big HSU sub, and worry the integrated subs would be useless. Thoughts?
Again, awesome post!
While I get that most people aren't willing to run the same speaker/drivers across their LCR spread, as they should, this is just another generic tower speaker set with an undersized center, that often come packaged in $1500 5.1 packages and still need a sub despite their massive tower size. They are found all over CEDIA.
Not terrible or anything, they have the potential to be tuned (although cheaper setups do too), but they rely on their old reputation and name too much for the quality they produce now. Where did you listen to them "all"? All at the store? It's pretty difficult to replicate the same audio conditions with different locations and setup, amps, DSP, etc.
As someone who has been an engineer in the ultra high-end hifi and home theater business for many years, I'm not just saying this to disagree for the sake of disagreeing, and perhaps I'm a bit spoiled with the equipment I work with, but...
Still a good deal if this is what you want.

I run 3x 10" subs across the front of my room that are limited between 55 and 105hz, with 3x identical LCR speakers that have 2x 8" drivers each and cut to 100hz, with 8" rear surrounds on 120hz and a dual 10" rear sub for below 60hz. It's really nice to have the better support of frequencies with the 8" drivers on the center channel speaker, especially with the bass on deep voices, and allows your subs to stick to background and environment, as they should.

I run an SVS monster cylinder, another 12 in ported, and def tech all around. The fronts have 3 subs each (1 active, 2 passive) and passive radiator subs in all the other speakers. The advantage here is the range of frequency response. There is no over kill possible, it's people's ability to setup a proper sound system. Most theaters and serious setups that cost 100s of thousands use 15"-18" woofers at every location. What's wonderful about def tech is the company itself. Their support is beyond words and their crossovers and housing designs are a thing of astonishment.
If anyone is looking to improve their setup, learn basics first. Room modeling, spf meters, sub crawl, balance, etc. Walk before you run. Amazing gear is nothing without ability to use it.
Cheers all!

This is almost perfectly on point. Although you aren't running anything that can actually reproduce real sub frequencies. Unless you're going sub 20hz it's not technically a subwoofer. But this would be a long conversation. Look to some of the better HiFi forums and you'll soon learn people are getting shilled with all this small speaker frequency range fallacy. In the end, for now, there is still no replacement for displacement.

This is tempting. I have been using Andrew Jones Pioneer's for the past 6 years, and they still sound great. Also, they are not massive. These are quite a bit bigger for sure. Wondering if the sound would really be that much better? I could always use a stronger center alone, but it wouldn't be matched with the rest of the set.
Well as you can tell just in this thread opinions can get very outlandish.
Some love specs some love reviews but that's the thing with sound, it's completely subjective.
There are VAST to many things to consider to go by anything other than you yourself listening.
All this reading really only influences your opinion.
The only real way to know how they compare would be for you to listen yourself.
