HP Omen Gaming PC i7-9700, 2070 Super - $1200

Been looking at building a gaming PC and this deal caught my eye.

Best Buy has a sale on this prebuilt gaming PC.

Intel® Core™ i7-9700 processor
16 GB ram
512 GB SSD
1 TB HDD
Nvidia GeForce RTX 2070 Super

A similar build on PCPartPicker would run you around $1400

You can also get an open box for around $1092 which seems like a great price for an i7 9700 and 2070 super. Keep in mind the processor and GPU alone would cost you $900. Once you buy the power supply, ram, SSD and HDD, Mobo, case etc. you are saving quite a bit.

I was hoping that some of the computer experts would weigh in on this deal. I'm in the market for a gaming pc that will last me a while, and it will also be used by my wife to look at some graphically intensive medical images when she works from home.

We are both frugal and have budget laptops from 2012 that are starting to show their age. Hoping we could get a good 5-7 years out of this and anything extra would be gravy.

I've read of heat related issues from previous posts related to omens. Google and you'll see. There are other pre-builds that come from time to time that are rated better Best Buy sells these and the reviews will be helpful. Good luck...

I picked up one of the 8700/2080 versions. Heat issues easily solved with Afterburner. Pretty decent system, imho.

I'd say go with AMD. Being that you're frigual you want to get as much life out of your PC as possible. The 9700 has 8 cores but not hyperthreading, hyperthreading will help extend your computers relevance into the future
