Even lower this time at $450.

I have the 3 pickup version in the Georgia Green.

The Georgia Green is absolutely gorgeous in person. I'm not a huge fan of the Super Hilotron pickups or the non-linear pots for adjusting the pickup volume (90% of the volume comes on/off at the last 10% of the 1 turn pot). Also it can be a very noisy guitar (hum).
It plays well and can sound amazing when you get it dialed in with your amp. Its well constructed.

I have been meaning to rewire my pots to be more linear and possibly swap out the bridge pickup with a blacktop.

I still would recommend it. I'm not a huge fan of the 3 pickup version and wish I had waited for one of these deals on the newer version.

Finally getting back into guitar. Ordered a Georgian Green and received it a few days ago. Great price for the last remaining Made in Korea (MIK) stock.

The 2019 models are made in China, although seem to still be very well made, swapped out the Super Hilo'trons for Broad'trons and have Laurel Fingerboard vs Rosewood on the 2017 MIKs. It's definitely personal taste, but for half the price, the 2017 models are a steal.

I have a 5422 that's pretty similar. Paid full retail price several years ago. It is one of my two most regularly gigged guitars. Love it. I think the only difference is that mine is fully hollow and the Bigsby is a different model but I think that's the only difference so I'm mildly qualified to say, "buy this."

The bridge is a tune-o-matic style on the 5622. Also, the body depth is shallower than the 5422 and they have different (much brighter) pickups. The 5622 fits in most 335 style cases. The necks feel ever so slightly different and IMO, the 5622 plays a little better out of the box with a lighter guage string. All that being said, I own the G5422TG in Cadillac Green from the SD link last year. It was more of the traditional big box Gretsch tone I was looking for. I also own a Japan made Power Jet Firebird and these Korean built guitars hold thier own pretty well against the more expensive models in build quality and playability. The electronics fall a bit short though.

I'd buy the Georgia Green if they had LH. I've been wanting a Gretsch for years.

I play accoustic more than electric and just can't justify owning another instrument now. I don't know what it is about Gretsch, but they have a look to them that I struggle pulling the trigger on. I wanted that Georgia Green, but just couldn't do it...I know what kind of deal those guitars are at that price...even for the Walnut.

I have a Squier strat and another low-end electric I got as a gift I never gave away... Should I try for a MIM strat or tele or low-end Les Paul?

Do you have a particular playing style on electric? If you mostly play acoustic and carry that playing style over to electric, I would recommend Tele over a Les Paul or a Strat. Tele's are great strummers and comp acoustic styles very well. They are simple and versatile. If you play heavier styles of music with lots of power chords and palm mutes, I'd recommend an HSS Strat or Les Paul. PRS SE or S2 series Standard 22s are an all-around, highly versatile option as well, depending on your price point. No advice will be as valuable as going out and playing and comparing different instruments and different price points.
