The fax is less of an issue than the glaring omission of a document feeder. If I'm scanning papers, it is most definitely not one at a time on the flatbed.
user hint. have your router assign a static dhcp address to your printer. The router will then always assign the same network address to the device based on its mac address. One should do this for all shared devices on the network - printers, nas, security systems and such.

Quote from MaddyDaddy :
This is probably a one time thing. But upon looking a little closer it will take quite a bit to accomplish. My wife's mom accumulated a lot of recipes over the years. Some magazine/newspaper clippings, some handwritten on white or yellow tablet pages. A lot of it is in a big accordian folder. So a document feeder may not be as needed as I thought.

*** Also as a thought, what about taking pictures of them individually with an iPhone?
It sounds like you may need a flat bed scanner for at least some of those recipes. The AIO you already have now may work for these. If the printer needs to be replaced, this one you're considering also has a flatbed scanner.

If you are replacing the printer only for the auto document scanning feature (the printer in this post is flatbed only), I find the stand alone scanners work better for these type of projects. If you want this printer but also need the ADF and fax in ONE device, take a look at Brother MFC-L2750dw. However, it is $100 more, which was half the cost of what I paid for the Epson ES-300w (or scanner you could find). Note: there may be a Brother DCP model with everything but fax that would be in between the cost of the printer shown here and the MFC. Watch for a sale on Slickdeals.

Consider using OneNote (both installed program version or app are free with no limits I have run into other than your 5 GB (don't scan files larger than necessary) free storage space) OR EverNote (Basic version is free but limits uploads to 60 MB a month) to organize your recipes. The Brother printer with the scan to cloud will scan to both. If the scanner you choose doesn't, you can still import these items into OneNote and should be able to import into Evernote too. Both OneNote and Evernote will also let you insert pictures from your phone into them.

Both of these apps are available on my pc, Mac, phone, tablet, etc. I use OneDrive because it has less restrictions in terms of features available, no monthly upload limits, etc. I also am a long-term user who has more than the 5GB of free storage. Maybe someone else has a better suggestion for your project.

P.S. I have also used Google PhotoScan app for Google Photos. Nice! Especially for larger photos/documents that won't feed through ADF or fit on flatbed. You can send these to OneNote or Evernote as well.

For those with photos projects, be aware of this: Data added in Google Photos (Descriptions or captions added in Web Albums, changed date/time, locations) are stored in a database and not downloaded when using the download options in Google Photos. If possible, it is recommended to add captions or locations and changing dates before you upload to Google Photos. I use the free program, Adobe Bridge, for this.

I hope that helps and that you have fun with this project :-)

for the number of times anyone desperately needs to fax something why not just go to drug store, mail store or ups or fedex store and fax it there for 20 cents a page.?
For someone like me that only has a need to fax a few pages here and there, I wish they had a model like this with the only extra being a fax. I would not paying a little extra for that. They do have a similar model with just the ADF, which is less than the MFC that has it all. The flatbed scanner would work fine for everyday use and occasional faxing as well as the rare fax I need to receive. I can upgrade to the L2750dw if I want the ADF AND fax. It also gives me the option to purchase a stand alone scanner, which I prefer. However, I don't want a stand alone fax. The MFC is actually cheaper in that case. I just have an ADF I'd rarely use.

If you only need to fax a few pages here and there, use an app! There are tons, and most will give you a free trial for one off situations. GeniusFax, Faxfile, eFax, etc.

For whatever reason, if you look at the MFP's that have fax, they are huge, and generally much more expensive than this one. There is no reason in 2020 to buy a machine w fax unless you are doing it regularly IMO. Well, if you don't have a smartphone, that would be a reason.

Also, for the person using this for their business....respectfully, you are in the wrong place. You should be looking at least at higher end consumer models, if not commercial ones if you are constantly faxing for business (and it's potentially a write off to boot, depending on your situation).

This is a VALUE laser multi-function printer, people! That means corners cut to get the price point you see here. Corners cut = LESS functionality than non value models, like FAX. It means things like no doc feeder. It means no color (except for scanning).

But for the money, and if you don't care or need those extras, this is an amazing deal. If you need more functionality, go spend $100 more and you can find it, easily, on many different models from different brands. $180-$200 price point opens up the field significantly for MFP lasers.

And because threads like this eventually produce car analogies for some reason, let me pre-empt that with: "it's like complaining that the $14K car you are considering buying doesn't have cruise control, and built in GPS, and surround sound, and....."

Just to say I agree this is an AMAZING deal and bought it at $89. So great I have no plans to try to take back and get for less. I know about apps, fax zero, etc. Given my options available now, I am looking into a fax to pc adapter or card.

I also realize most people would not want the fax without the ADF.

Another thought is you can get this printer for $75 and the MFC-L2710 model for $115. For almost the same price as the MFC-L2750dw, you have all features between the two and TWO Printers.

Caution, this printer may not be compatible with some wireless routers!

I had an AT&T provided ARIS cable modem/router and the Brother printer would not wake from sleep. ARIS & Brother are both pointing fingers at each other saying they implement their WLAN drivers incorrectly.

Doe the scanner produce good enough results for high resolution color photos at 300dpi? I don't need a scanning workhorse, but want to replace my old Epson AIO ink jet that I've been keeping around literally just for it's pretty good scanning ability (i don't use it to print anymore).

Seems to be periodically going in and out of stock. Might be a glitch on staples end since I know there is plenty stock in-stores. Try checking on it every so often to see if it comes back.

(But to answer your question, yes, for occasional informal scanning @ 300, does quite well considering price point)
