At least 100 indie titles on sale at Vudu for 4.99. It looks like all are HD or HDX. All of them seem to be Miramax titles so they will not port via Movies Anywhere, FYI

Except this hasn't happened with any video service that has closed up shop to date. Every one has had a plan to let you port to another service. There's no reason to think the same wouldn't be the case here. Ease up on the fear mongering.

With VUDU's future in doubt, a possible Comcast/NBCUniversal purchase looming, I'm hesitant to buy a single movie that isn't Movies Anywhere at this point.

Oh man, I hadn't heard this. I bought The Office a few months ago specifically because it was leaving Netflix. If Comcast somehow finds a way to screw me over again, it would make too much sense based on my luck

I don't understand if this is a sarcastic remark to his comment or you are being sarcastic in regards to digital downloads because some of these companies do trick people into thinking that they can download and own the media forever

Regardless, with VUDU you can only download and play the movies back via their App. There is no backing up and there is no playing it on any media player of your choice. So if VUDU does kick the bucket then all of the "bought" movies would probably not work because the infrastructure to validate those movies/account credentials rests with VUDU and that will disappear as well.

Yes. However not everyone wants a low bitrate, drm protected digital copy of a movie.
