Yeah this seems a rare case of the benefits outweigh the AF increase..... if you eat out much at all the resy credit is straight $400 good as cash for a $200 AF increase plus the other credit increases.

To me I'm treating that as $400, then $200 into my UA travelbank with the airline credit, $200 in uber credits I'll for sure use, and I've already offset all but $95 of the AF.... I use U1 a few heavy travel months a year so say $30 value there.... meaning I only need to get $65 in value out of:

$300 entertainment credits
$600 in hotel credits (they are hardish to use since they're at overpriced hotels though)
$300 in lulelemon credits (again INSANELY overpriced, but still it's say 1 free shirt a quarter or something)

Plus the existing benefits that again I wouldn't pay for myself but have SOME small value (W+, Clear membership, etc)

And centurion access (though without guests it's not near as valuable as it used to be)

It's funny-- CSR lost me as a customer doubling down on the coupon book route-- but this refresh might have converted me to Amex Plat being a keeper

So if you purchase UA credits, it counts as an incidental airline fee?

Yup- it's the easiest way to use the credit for actual airfare (there's a few other tricks with other airlines that are more of a PITA/less reliable).

Oh other thing I realized--- if you're thinking of NOT renewing- but your AF doesn't post for a few more months at least--- you are better off signing up for monthly UberOne, not annual, right now.

Because that $120 U1 credit is per calendar year.

So sign up for monthly right now, let it credit you back $9.99/mo for the rest of this year.

Then next year you can do monthly for at least 2 months, then convert to an annual plan before Month 3 bills in 2026, and you end up with U1 through ~March 2027 for free.

Versus if you just did annual today and then got rid of the card in a few months, you'd only have through ~Sept 2026.

Very helpful, thanks.

Sorry, one more question. So if I did annual uber one membership, the credit wont post until year end? (I don't have any plans to cancel this year.) Seems like there's no upside to annual membership if the monthly @ 9.99 is fully covered anyway.

$200 Oura Ring Credit
Enrollment through American Express is required to receive the benefit. Only the Basic Card Member or Authorized Account Manager(s) on a U.S. Consumer Platinum Card® Account can enroll in the benefits section of their americanexpress.com account or by calling the number on the back of their Card. Enrolled Basic Card Members can receive up to $200 in statement credits each calendar year on eligible purchases charged to the Card Account. Eligible purchases include Oura Ring purchases made online at U.S. website ouraring.com. Not valid on purchases shipped to U.S. territories or outside the U.S. Excludes Oura membership purchases, other hardware purchases (e.g., chargers, add-ons), extended warranty purchases, Oura gift card purchases, and purchases made using third-party retailers, delivery services or other intermediaries. Purchases by both the enrolled Basic Card Member and Additional Card Members on the Card Account are eligible for statement credits. However, each enrolled Card Account is only eligible for up to $200 in statement credits per calendar year, per Card Account.

Was hoping to game this for the gift card but looks like they're smart enough to exclude it 😒
