If you own the Blu rays, you can get them for $2 each with disc to digital. Just use the barcodes, or if you lost the barcodes, you should be able to find them easily

with the inevitable 4ks at this point why bother? unless they pull that bs and release the theatrical cuts in 4k first and not the extended versions (much like they did with the regular blu rays)

The Hobbit trilogy was garbage. Sure, the visual effects are crisper and more high quality but the story line is just a major disappointment. It's a 2 hour movie at best stretched into a laboriously long trilogy. The acting is uninspired and forgettable. It's hard to much like or remember any of the characters. It's supposed to be a prequel but Gandalf has aged backward. It looks nothing like a Tolkien story. I couldn't wait for each of the three movies to end because to fill up the time they'd just keep dragging it on and on and on with more unnecessary action.

Nothing comes close to the LOTR, and by all means, only the extended version.

All the CG was done in 1080. I don't think it's inevitable.

We aren't sure yet if the free WB 4k upgrades will work on this set or not...if it does then awesome

Vudu and Warner Brothers have been upgrading HD purchases from Vudu to UHD for free, not the D2D or digital copy. I wonder if this would qualify, once a UHD version comes out. There is a SD thread on this.

CGI is stuck at 1080 due to vfx stress. Most cgi heavy movies are 2k bc studios aren't making 4k anymore besides Sony.

The thing now is HDR.
