The outlet is a ghost of its former self. Now with the click-through required, everything is always sold out. At least anything close to a deal... very disappointing. I made $10000s back in 2013-2015 from that place.
Second, sadly, the outlet is a big hit or miss. Mainly negative stories with the outlet. Cancellations / incorrect stock seem pretty common if you do a google search. Experienced it myself recently.
Bought an X1 Extreme from there a week ago, they cancelled it 3 days after I purchased it. Okay cool...no biggie, purchased another model after chatting with support. Estimated ship date is 3 weeks out...support told me it's because they need to "build" it? I thought all the outlet machines were pre-built stock? Support then said they would check and get a more accurate estimated ship date..which they did, but they sent me the estimated ship date for my first order which was cancelled. LOL. First world problems...I'll probably just cancel my order shortly and order an MSI / Dell.

That's too bad. I just got an Aurora from Dell outlet and beware that the wait time is now estimated at several weeks. Coronavirus perhaps? So you might still need to wait from Dell too.
The Lenovo t530 desktop with an i7-8700 at just over $500 seems pretty good. If you actually get it.

Outlet is definitely a hit or miss. I recently purchased a x1 carbon from them as "new" and it arrived obviously used. It already had a local account that was password protected that I assume was the previous buyer. I ended up just doing a clean reinstall and now works flawlessly. Lenovo definitely has quality control issues but from my experience, the return process was actually very easy so I would recommend purchasing several at a time (<5) and pick the one that works best for you. The product ships out of North Carolina so depending on your location, it may take a few days or a week or so in my case.
The inventory management is pretty bad. I bought a laptop from them twice and both times they were cancelled 3 days later. The third one finally went through. I guess three is a magic number with them. Also....the pricing is very odd. You literally need to look at every laptop. A superior spec laptop could cost less than the same type with worse specs. I think the price is based on what the original buyer paid.

its been a few years, but the last time I ordered a New Carbon X1 Yoga, it came in a generic brown non-retail box. It was definitely not refurb as all the clear film and stuff was on it. I think some of these outlet items happens when a large company makes a large bulk purpose (so it just gets boxed in a generic box), but they end up cancelling some of them.
