What tool are you looking for that isn't available in M12 [milwaukeetool.com]?
I gladly bought this set for $200 a couple years back when I needed it and do not regret the purchase at all. With the extra 6.0Ah battery, this is a great deal. I can't think of anything around the house you couldn't use this 12V set on. The impact driver is powerful enough to get lugs off most unibody cars though just barely and I wouldn't recommend using it for that purpose. I've used my set to drill holes through masonry, drive lags, work on my car, and woodworking. The size and strength are perfect for around the house.

Wondering if I should quit waiting on a Ryobi brushless deal and just snag one of these kits. Only concern is it seems like there are waaay less tools in this M12 line?

Mainly a bigger circular saw, a brad nailer, and some of the misc household tools that Ryobi offers. But this picture definitely gives a better idea than the quick searches I did on Home Depot's site. Thanks

Awesome deal. I got my fuel 12v set 2-3 years ago. Still my most used tools. 6 ah battery is a great addition.

I use M12 fuel (this set) as my only drill and driver and it has plenty of power while being much easier to handle and fit in tight spots. I also picked up the M12 stubby and ratchet for working on my car, and the hack all will probably be next.

I keep a few ryobi batteries around for a circ saw and string trimmer, etc. But the ryobi drill and impact are just so annoyingly bulky. I don't miss them at all. The ryobi prices and huge tool line are perfect for the more specialized tools you don't use as often.

That's not a terrible idea... Buy this for the drill/impact and have a set of Ryobis for all the other stuff. Would be nice to have everything on one platform but I guess that's not absolutely necessary.

M18 would be more comparable to Ryobi's line, but also more expensive. M12 offers some great tools where you don't want a full size 18v battery in the way, but lacks a few things offered in 18v.

From what I could tell, Milwaukee caters more to tradesmen and Ryobi to homeowners. I decided on Milwaukee myself, but Ryobi has some tools that I'd prefer over their Milwaukee counterpart (most often due to price). I'm considering buying a cheap battery adapter and using my M18 batteries with them, but the reviews on the currently available adapters aren't great and I'm hoping somebody introduces an improved product.

I agree I prefer all one system whenever possible, but the pleasure of using M12 fuel for my most-used tools far outweighs the inconvenience of multiple chargers imo.

They just did a deal this same kit but you get a free tool instead of the 6ah. I'm not sure if it's still on, but that was the better deal imo.

Yep, I'd love to go w/ the M18 line but it's just too expensive for what I plan on doing with them (DIY + around the house)

That's what led me to the Ryobi line, but the deals aren't great right now. Even paying full price for the Ryobi stuff seems like a better call though.

I really like my M12 tools for stuff around the the house. I regularly use the drill, driver, and hackzall. The smaller battery makes the tool easier to handle and a lot lighter to haul around. But, I just can't fathom why you'd want a 12v hammer drill. The situations where you'd want to use a hammer drill are probably the situations where you really want a powerful hammer drill and 12v just can't cut it.

You can get an additional tool instead of the 6ah battery. I have these tools. They are great.
